Importance of leaving the cakes in jars til pinset
    #1161222 - 12/21/02 10:41 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

Seems to me the longer you can leave them in there the better.

I've never really heard this point stressed before, any similar experiences?

It's kinda hard to figure out coincidence from fact sometimes.

i think your refering to invetro pinset. You sometimes get a better first flush this way. In general you should leave the cake in jar until the mycelium has taken over all of the substrate. This way you will avoid contamination.

I like to do tests on cakes to see what gets the best yeilds and I've found that letting them start to pin does help to make for a decent flush, but have found that what seems to work best for me with cakes is to dunk them before I birth them for 18 hours. This has given me my largest flushes.
