debating use of jar...
    #11610229 - 12/08/09 02:45 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

i have a Grain LC jar that i used to noc up 6 other jars
and its recolonizing now actually its almost done (just the soaked bottom is left)

but the jars i used it on havent done a thing. its ok tho,
i have 1 more fully colonized grain jar im gonna G2G to them tonight.

i was wondering if when that saturated jar is finished colonizing
if i could just fruit it in jar.
and how would you go about it?

or maybe its no good because of the excess moisture.

Wutcha think

I've done this and even spawned the leftover grains used to make the LC to coir.

If you rotate the jar every so often the moisture will not pool in one place and it will recover very nicely.

did you just open the jar and cover with a plastic baggie?
lift the bag up and down for fae?

Sorry, i have not fruited in the jar, but I spawned them to coir in a solo cup and fruited that after it colonized. I had the solo cup in the FC with some other shit.

Just got done with the g2g and i put a plastic baggie over the jar
and sprayed the inside of it with clean water.

im gonna fae the thing by lifting the baggie up until it almost comes off
then pulling it back down again once or twice, 3-5 times a day.

we'll see what happens...

and i had some extra pasteurized verm, so i put a lil "casing" on top,
even though the top wasnt all that even...

:::UPDATE:::

I decided to go ahead and let it consolidate. I threw the jar into a mini fruiting chamber
(butter container with perlite on bottom covered by 1 gal ziplock)

No pics, but i got tons of pins.

ok about a dozen, but it is pumping them out.

should have prints by new years, and a bit of fun to go with it.

Moral of the story?

Dont toss those Grain LCs!

Fruit em in the jar when ur done with em. the extra moisture is killer!

Don't use your leftover spore syringes to suck up the myceliated water.  Get a #12 or #14 needle so it will be wide enough to admit the mycelium. If you use the standard #18 or #20 medical needle, it's likely to leave the mycelium behind and only take water.

I actually had some left over MW in a jar and i poured it over some hydrated coir.
and thats coming along nicely hehe

but not to worry RR. Those jars went to good use.
I G2Ged them and theyre consolidating right now.

MERRY CHRISTMAS shroomies!!
