First grow attempt! Pics inside.

Hi, I'm new here and I would like to say thanks to the shroomery for all the information that it provides. I have some pics of my noob setup that I put together mostly with the crap I had laying around my house and with the help of Walmart and Petsmart. First pic is the outside view. As you can see the Fruiting Chamber is sitting on top of the makeshift incubator.

Next pic is a closer look at the fruiting Chamber.

This pic shows the incubator door open. I don't use the warming blanket that the incubator sits on anymore since I noticed one day temps rising to the 85 degrees mark inside.

This is a shot of the inside of the Fruiting Chamber. I used four air stones and two airpumps for this setup. I couldn't find any geolite so I had to use Aquarium rocks, hope it's ok. I don't have a hydrometer (my digital one frys in there) but RH doesn't seem to be a problem. Notice teh bubblez.

This is a closeup of a cake. It is Brazilian. For some reason the picture looks kinda ... not as healthy as it does irl imo. At least no visible contams that my noob eyes see.

These are the jars that were in the incubator. They are Cambodian.

A closeup of one.

I should also mention that I had 7 jars of F+ go bad because I got the needle too hot during the inoculation process and I killed all the spores in the syringes by doing so. I threw those jars away. All in all I'm a noob am I am having sooo much fun with my new hobby. Now I Pray to the mushroom gods for some pinning this week Cakes have been in the F.C. for about 7 days so far. Wish me luck!

If I have managed to get fruits with a -far- less elaborate set-up you shall surely be blessed with the fungi! I hope you get fruits, and post pics when you do. Good luck.

That is a lot of water in there. You want to make sure the cakes don't get soaked or stay overly wet for any length of time. You don't want water pooling on the foil either.
One of the pinning triggers is evaporation. When moisture evaporates from the surface of the cakes, the process induces growth.
You may want to drill some 1/4 inch holes around the sides of that to allow for better FAE (fresh air exchange).
Really, for BRF cakes all you need is a shotgun fruiting chamber.
Check out the video in the link below.

drill holes in all sides of that container and let that damn water drain out. you dont need that much moisture. your cakes will probably take a while to fruit that way.

Thank you all for the help it is greatly appreciated. Just an update for ya. I picked up a daylight cfl light bulb and an analogue hydrometer/thermometer from Walmart and Petsmart.
Yes that is a Hello Kitty lamp.

Here is a shot of the inside with the hydrometer/thermometer.

I noticed this morning that 4 of the caked were soaked with water on the bottom, so I gave them all new foil on the bottoms replacing the jar lids and crap foil from before. I used toilet paper to soak up the soggy bottoms of the cakes and I noticed that one of the cakes started to grow through one of the holes on the jar lid, and it actually managed to gain RUST on the Mycelium... it was just a little bit so I wasn't worried and I put the cake on its new foil and in the fc ignoring the small rust spot on the mycelium. I made sure all the cakes still smelt like fresh mushrooms and they did so I hope that none of the cakes started to contam from being so soggy for a few days.
This is a pic of the cover that I have with 5 holes drilled and micro tape that I use to cover the holes. I just sprayed it down that's why its so wet. I'll make 5 more holes on the top for better FAE. I'm also taking out like 2.5 cups of water.

Now that I have light, and I dried the cakes off I hope to see pinning soon Thanks again for all the help.
I'll keep posting pics
Latest pic with new water level and holes on top.

Ive got Pins on 3/5 cakes!! I'm super happy. I wonder when I'll have enough for a dose

How many pins does one need to eat to have a good trip? I think I'm going to eat all fresh pins for my first grow trip.
Thanks again Shroomery!

Thank you for the words of encouragement, THEY ARE GROWING BEFORE MY EYES! I've read that pins grow fast but this is amazing! How long do you think It will be before I have very young mushies that are good enough for eating? I'm hoping for 2-3 days. I won't be drying my first dose out since I heard it's "Better" to eat fresh, and I simply cannot wait

should take 3-5 more days, pick them once the veil tears. yeah eating them fresh is fine, but until you get tue feel for it you dont know how much of the weight is water, usually 90%, could be denser

In my earlier pics I had Waaaay too much water in the FC like the members here pointed out, so I took the advice and took out over 5 cups of water. It dropped my humidity from 98% to about 89%. The temp, is about 73 degrees in the FC. I'm using 12/12 light using 65k daylight cfl. Good fruiting conditions aye?

shotgun FC or bust but good job. give your mushies plenty of fresh air. also your hygrometer from petsmart is probably crap. don't trust it.
I just finished coming down from a cambo trip. ate 20 grams wet and i was holding on to the carpet to keep from falling off the earth. Figuratively that is.
good luck!
p.s. shotgun or bust!!

are these 2 big guys still good to eat? one of them is slightly burnt from the light it looks like. They weren't blue when I left for work and when I came back the big ones turned bluish.

Here is a pick of another cake that I harvested.

I was going to do a better job with more variety in pics but I dont have much time before I have to go back to work.
Anyways, I would guess the 2 blue mushrooms are fine to eat but I just wanted to make sure. Also, I am seeing deep bluing inside the cakes and some bluing inside the stems of the shrooms, I'll assume they are brusing.

They kind of look black from the photo, almost like they're covered in spores.
If it's just blue bruising then they're fine to eat.

I hope you didn't harvest the cake at the stage in the second photo, those guys would have gotten a lot bigger.

>.< Impatience and inexperience FTL. I was thinking they would all end up being small and open up and turn blue by the time I would get back from work to pick them ... so I harvested the second cake.
Can some brusing be like black? I have some black specks on a few stems, Wouldn't say its "starting to rot" because the rest of the little shroom looks fine. But around some of the brusing its black .... hope its ok. I'll post a pic if I need to. I have the first harvest drying by a fan right now.
Thanks again shroomery. I Have my first dose!!
