Seed raising mix is a better option for cactus seeds than using a media formulated for mature plants, just add more coarse sand to open up the mix a bit. All it basically is is sand and peat, perfect for starting seeds in.

Thanks for the info. My seeds arrived yesterday, so I'm ready to get started. I picked up a couple bags of this:
MOD EDIT: Removed non sponsor link
"Provides superior growing conditions for all cacti and other succulents. Excellent drainage qualities. Contains organic matter to help retain nutrients. No mixing, ready to use."
So some questions if you all don't mind
1) So I should strain the soil, getting rid of all big chunks and whatever else in there?
2) Then from there, it sounds like I should add some ordinary sand to open up the mix a bit?
3) Will an ordinary florescent light work good enough to sprout my babies?

That should work, I haven't used it though.
1) Yeah, remove any large pieces of bark. You want a relatively uniform, flat surface to sow on. If crevices are present the seed can slip through the cracks.
2) You can if you feel the mix needs it.
3) You can use one to germinate them under but if they start to stretch for the light you will need to upgrade to one more suitable for growing plants like a T8 or T5.
Last of all...

I think i will start todat after work since I picked up a bit of schultz cacti & succulent mix. I was thinking to sift it and mix a little sand then microwave it a little. Was gunna do 5 or so seeds to a mini beer cup with saran wrap stretched over under a flouro and use peruvian torch and bridgessii. Do i air the cup frequently or can i poke holes for FAE? Wish me luck?

How tall are they?
Seedlings shouldn't be leaning.

You can try planting them deeper, but they shouldn't be leaning so soon.
You may want to check that there roots haven't been eaten by fungus gnat larvae.

For the last couple of weeks, my soil is starting to get this green build-up that looks like algae. Is this bad, and if so, what can I do to take care of this? I've just been scooping it out for now...

That indicates that it's holding too much water.
Cut back on watering as much, give it more air exchange, and sprinkle a nice layer of sand on top.

Bumping to say thanks for a great thread, and to ask:
I got a pack of mixed cactus seeds at Lowe's (I didn't know they sold them like that). If I start them now, how long before I could tell what kind they were or how they would grow? A year or two?
Also because I have some alleged Loph seeds the were 'mislabeled for customs purposes'. If I can sprout them, is it easy to give a yes/no on that species early?

You might nail down the genus before the species but will totally depend on what comes up.

Lophs are fairly distinct within weeks of sprouting.

Good news on both, thanks. The mixed seeds have a list, I guess I'll hold onto that and see what's what. Saguaro is one of them, it would be cool to end up with some big barrel cactus in a dozen years.

Last years seedlings(ariocarpus/tricho/loph) didn't do so well sown in 100% coir/shoebox with cling wrap but I think it was due to my lighting. (Ferry Morse Grow Light)
I'm Going with this route this year with a hlg 100 3000k quantum board and a heat mat for the winter. Hopefully ill have better luck.
I'll be sowing about 600 seeds of various trichocereus varieties and some loph. 50 a cup. Using https://www.amazon.com/Hoffman-10404-Organic-Cactus-Succulent/dp/B006MY5KJO?th=1&psc=1 as my soil.
