Is beating a dead horse. Bad. After seeing another release mentioned on the Jambase newsfeed, it's almost sad how much they are milking it.
With that said, I used to be a big fan - partying hard at shows and trading live music through etree and archive.org.
Anyway, with so much good genre-defying music emerging (with psychedelic undertones), I just think it's time for the jamband train to reach its station.

There is a lot of good music recommended by members here. If the acoustic element is what you're looking for then Rodrigo y Gabriela is worth checking out. It's like "psychedelic" flamenco, and they've commented how the structure resembles metal more than anything. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/20418/Rodrigo-y-Gabriela-Their-Own-Adventure
Lately I've been leaning more towards electronic styles because it has been progressing much faster lately than strictly organic music. The new Shpongle album is obviously mentionable, as well as the newest Pretty Lights. Pandora and Last.fm are good resources to branch off interests.
If one is looking for a "scene" to party with, as with the festival crowd, that's all well and good. I just think there is potentially so much music out there (world genres, classical, folk, etc.) that doesn't match our popular stereotype for cool music, so we look it over. Just my $0.02 of course.

panic is still rockin IMO. its not like they have to be up there playing. those guys have alot of options in terms of what they could all do as individuals. these guys do what they do, if ya dont like it go listen to some more Rodrigo y Garbiella, as if they aren't played out as fuck these days
-------------------- < I have logged in this once so that I can set the "last seen" feature up. let the faggots flow forth into OTD and have it. Its funny how they all grew nuts after I left. I'm not here, I'm not reading, but I urge you all to keep melting down over me. I know, I hurt alot of people, and they deserved it. epic win for me, epic fail for you. ythan, you rock dude. i feel that my time at the shroomery was very positive and enjoyable, but this site is no longer for me. im not mad or upset or disappointed, i just want no part in a pg rated faggot festival. <

My new qualifier to avoid listening to anything that is 'played out'.
I you don't like ____, go listen to more ____.
Perfect.

I just recently saw Widespread Panic and I was impressed. They played a hell of a show!
Here's a good review of the 3-day run they did in Milwaukee that I was at...

I still enjoy WSP shows very much. I think they went through a big lull with Herring for a long while but I feel like they are still evolving. I saw soem great shows this year

I didn't like their recent album but "Earth to America" and "Til the Medicine Takes" are pretty damn good.
I've only seem them once live (Bonnaroo) and was pretty twisted at the time so I can't objectively say how they were.
Oh and some random good artists?
