hi all ...
iv'e got a few questions that came up in my head after reading a few topics here at the forum ... (topics were: questions to ask oneself while tripping - thing's you've come to believe in ... ) If you can't find an answer to all questions, just answer the ones you feel like answering, ofcourse ...
1. What is an ego? how would you discribe this phenomenon of the individual ...
2. How can you loose the ego. When comes the point that one knows it's gone?
3. have you ever lost your ego? ... how long was the experience? ... when did it came back? ... how did you realise what was happening?
4. do you realise you have an ego? why would people ever want to loose it?
tnx for the effort! ...

1. your ego makes you think you're an individual, seperated from Al That Is... it makes you forget who you truly are and where you come from... 2.In Silence We Are... and while being you'll know your ego is gone....
3.only for a few seconds...
4.i'm aware of the fact that i have an ego....i want to loose it to experience that we are all one....(and not just think it with my brain,i want to feel it)

1. What is an ego? how would you discribe this phenomenon of the individual ... The ego is the concept of "the self," or of using the words "I" and "me." It is basically who you are; what makes you different from anybody else.
2. How can you loose the ego. When comes the point that one knows it's gone? The easiest way that I know of is to do a large dose of mushrooms. Sometimes the point when you know it's gone will not come until after the actual ego-loss has occurred. In fact, I don't think you could realize "I do not have an ego" while you were ego-less.
3. have you ever lost your ego? ... how long was the experience? ... when did it came back? ... how did you realise what was happening?
I've lost my ego once, on a large dose of mushrooms. I don't know how long it lasted, and thus I don't know "when" it came back. I didn't even realize what had happened until after my ego returned to me, and when the realization came, it was utterly amazing!
During the experience, I pretty much felt like a child looking upon the world for the very first time. Just an incredible sensation of awe and wonder. And no "me" to obscure the view.
4. do you realise you have an ego? why would people ever want to loose it?
Of course... Everyone realizes they have an ego. People want to lose it sometimes to experience what the world is like without their perception being clouded by the subjective self. It is like living in a whole new wonderful way!
This does not necessarily mean the ego is evil, however. I could not imagine living in a world where there were no egos. I think it is extremely worthwhile to have an experience of temporary ego-loss sometime in your life, though.

P.S. Nice to meet you, JanUa! Good questions!

1) The ego is desire.
2) You can loose the ego by getting lost. There is never a point when one knows that it is gone.
3) Perhaps I have lost my ego, but I really can't say for sure. You can only know that it might have been gone, not that it is gone.
4) Sometimes... to loose the ego is to free oneself from bondage.

Eat some mushrooms and you will find the answers! (I really mean it) I understood it while triping. I mean while feeling my ego is no longer... present.
-------------------- I see trees of green, psylocibe mushrooms too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world

iv'e been experimenting with hallucinogenics for some time now ... after 6 years i have some sort of answer ... don't look for them, don't think about them and deffinately don't believe them ... or you'll miss the essence. (in my point of view h?h?)
