can grain bags be seal before pressure cooking?

I want to inoculate my grain bags with a syring and dont want them to ever open. Can i seal the bags and PC them or just do it after I pc seal, inoculate though bag and put scotch tape over it?

Depends on the bags. The sporeworks bags are pre-sealable, but some other bags are not.

Yeah, I should have said that, but I just figured he meant filter patch bags.

then yea you can seal them i use cloths pins and it works well for me

so your saying you just use three cloths pins to "seal" a bag? ive been waiting till i buy a Impulse sealer. does it work most of the time?

i fold down about 2 inches of the bag then fold that in half clip them shut then PC i have two 3qt WBS bags in the PC like that now
so far i havent run into any problems

SO Just to make sure, I can impulse seal my bag, pc it, let it cool, and syringe inoculate through the bag and put a piece of Scotch tape over it?

yeh i seal with impule and then p.c. havent blown 1 yet and they come out lookin all nice n neat and proffesional lookin. sweet.

my grain bag came out with a lot of air in it cause it was puffy. Should the bags after heat sealing and pcing; come out looking vacume sealed (like un sealed pc bags) or like how i just described?

also make sure you let the pressure drop in the p.c./let em cool a little while and they will come out looking nice and vacuum sealed. also if you don't let the pressure drop on its own you will blow bags.

weight the bag down...? NO I impulse sealed the bags, pc'ed for hour and half, let pressure drop and cool for five hours then took it out to inoculate and the bag was puffy......

Will any type of plates work for this? And why doesn't RR pre-seal bags before loading them?

yes any plate(ceramic,pyrex ect...) will work this keeps the bags from puffing up in the PC it also helps prevent your steam valve from becoming blocked
i believe he doent seal because he mixes colonized grains with his sub
