This sounds pretty good. Are you talking about ginger ale, or do you actually use real ginger? Might have to give it a try tonight. It is Friday afterall...
I always thought that the best overall mixer is sour mix. Goes well with just about any liquor. I'm not talking about sweet & sour either. I have been to many places around the country where the bartenders haven't even heard of regular sour mix, so I'm not sure if it is available everywhere.
ginger ale. though i've had some bourbon and gingers made with a nice natural ginger beer full of fresh-like gingery flavor. totally awesome.

That's the poor folks recipe.
If you have the extra cash, fresh fruit is key. You can use a hollowed out watermelon as the "punchbowl" too!

that's the beauty of johnny walker and birch beer. It has such a mild taste that even with a full glass of birch beer you can taste the black label.

I am about halfway through my first bourbon ginger ale, and I am sold!! I used Maker's Mark, Canada Dry, Angostura bitters, and reconstituted lime juice. I'm sure it would be even better with fresh lime, but I couldn't justify driving all the way to the grocery store for just 1-2 limes. I bet this would make a great drink for a hot summer night. Not that I would know, considering its 17F and snowing outside...
Thanks for the recipe!
As a result of this thread, I also bought some Captain, some Tanquery, and a plethora of mixers. Along with the keg of Summit that is left over from last weekend, I should be set for the weekend!

I drink Bombay Sapphire and Sprite almost exclusively.
It is by far my favorite mixed drink in history.
With a splash of Rose's Lime, it's incredible.

gin and sprite is my favorite thing to do with hard liquor other than freebasing everclear out of my vaporizer

oh yeah. It's a much cleaner, more "heady" drunk feeling IMO. I just use an eye dropper to drop 2-3 drops into the screen. This is enough for a couple good rips, plus it cleans the shit out of the screen. Just be careful and go slow because it'd be much easier to get alcohol poisoning this way. I usually only freebase 4-6 drops of everclear in one sitting and that's usually enough to set me straight, especially if I've been putting chronic in there too
