Songs To Trip To?
    #11586199 - 12/04/09 07:50 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

My shrooms have finally started fruiting and I am looking forward to my first trip in a few days and I was looking for a few song suggestions to start putting together a playlist for the trip.

My taste in music is extremely eclectic, I can appreciate everything from gangster rap (Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Kanye West [if you consider him gangster lol], etc.) to opera (Maria Callas, Puccini, etc., arias are my favorite) to military cadences (Pick Up Your Weapon and Follow Me!). Currently my favorite song is "Fireflies" by Owl City. I understand trance and shrooms go together like peas in a pod; this is one venue I haven't explored in depth before. I do really enjoy some mainstream techno (Daft Punk, Justice, etc.) so any suggestions in those genres would be much appreciated.

Another favorite genre of mine is reggae (Matisyahu, Bob Marley...any of the Marley's...) and some of my favorite artists are the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Black Eyed Peas, Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, the Flobots, Bob Dylan (not his recent shit), Nirvana, Rush, Kid Cudi, Carmen's Habanera, Tom Petty, and a billion more I'm not thinking of right now. My favorite song of all time is probably Tom Sawyer by Rush.

So basically, I'm looking for suggestions from any genre as long as it's a deep/trippy/fun/etc. song to trip to. Thanks everyone!

Dude.

There's seriously 74 threads like this made every second. I really don't want to sound offensive or whatever, but use the search function and be ready to discover a hell of a lot of amazing music.

Have fun, cheers!

ManyAK's got a point.
BUT! I'm gonna be a hypocrite and throw in my .02. :crazy2:

... Cause I absolutely adore psybient (shulman, ott, entheogenic, bluetech, etc) and dub (especially Pitch Black from New Zealand).

Ken Nordine - Lampshades

I am gonna listen to this album next time I trip... I lost it in a hard drive crash, couldn't remember his name, just that it was some crazy old spoken word jazz... and then it hit me... "licking lampshades"

Enjoy

I'd just like to thank everyone again, before this post I had never even heard of "psybient" or "dub" or "house". While a lot of it seems very ambient or insubstantial to listen to by itself, a lot of it seems like it would be great to have playing in the background while I'm doing....whatever it is I'm going to be doing while tripping.

Edit: Also, I'd like to mention I'm still downloading every song someone mentions so suggestions are still appreciated.

Gentle Giant

These guys did some amazing things as a part of the progressive rock movement in the 70's but because they were so quirky they didn't get the exposure they deserved. Their songs were extremely complicated, rhythmically f**ked up, musicians loved their albums but radio never gave them a chance.

With headphones while tripping these guys take me to places nobody else can. Forgive the sentence structure, it's been a long day. It's not everyone's cup of tea but it could possibly open you up to a whole catalogue of freaky stuff you've never heard before... some sonic candy.

You might guess I'm a musician...

Yep, Brian Eno created music just to fit in the space it was to be listened to. He has albums called 'Music for Airports' and 'Music for Films'. It's all music to fill up the space the other ambiance doesn't. It's for 'passive listening'

I'm going to cheat here and just copy my post from the unconventional trip music thread because I think these songs are worth repeating.

White Noise, if you want to freak yourself out:

Tomorrow

The Pretty Things (this song is one of my favorites of all time)

LSD and the Search for God

The Head Shop

Fiery Furnaces

Plus some extras that I didn't mention in that thread:
The Flaming Lips

Zerfas (their other songs are better if you ask me but they're not on YouTube)

Skip Spence

She weeps time, starts unspoken, but when the gate swings there she'll be;
There she'll be: in green sun, on blue earth, under warm running showers
