How often are you misting the cakes? Aborts with PF Tek are often a sign of over misting where inadequate FAE lets water pool. You can mist directly, but make sure the water evaporates.

There's zero sterility needed when prepping the substrate. Your home is filled with mold spores and tons of other shit. Like you said, we're sterilizing in the PC.

Yes, it was definitely too much misting to little FAE.  I think I’ve got the environment situation figured out. I’ve got a few cakes that are doing well now and will try for a second flush.  They aren’t huge mushrooms but there’s progress for sure.

the cracked top means they are to dry. remove your cakes and get your coir a bit more wet so it generates more humidity. other wise those cakes look fine.

Ok, some look like they’ve separated at the gills.  Should I harvest those?  I know they’re not full grown yet.

I've been following this guide to the T, however, I'm seeing alot of people telling me to not use the SGFC. So I'm stuck here with 12Qts of perlite. But I'm thinking of using 3 wet towels in a humidity chamber. Do you think this would work? I have 9 brf cakes about 95% colonized. Gonna let them sit for 8 more days.

I’m bought the premaid Brown rice jars help [Re: Cyanesense]
    #27565683 - 12/02/21 05:29 AM (2 years, 1 month ago)

So they all took really well…the mycelium on all of them was strong and even when I thought it was all set I even wanted 5 more days for the center to be solid as well…I have them in a mono tub on tin foil on perlite…it’s been like four to five days nothing is happening….I give it fresh air twice a day and mist the sides…I also have a light on to further getting them to start to pin two cakes have bluish sides but it looks more like from getting knocked around from getting them out of the jars….I’m just looking for advice to make sure they have the best chance to flush this is my second fail which was grow bags all advice please

Can you use organic white rice flour instead of the brown?
I am asking because I have a bag of the white that I bought accidentally.

No., the hull contains most of the nutrients.

And please dont bump old threads. There is an updated pf tek guide by Ziran, its the more current PF thread.

This one was OP’d 20 years ago and has been necro’d a bunch of times..
