Right, but the "big plate of food" is in the CENTER of the cake, which is COVERED by a thick layer of mycelium protecting it from the outside. If you still got visible holes of BRF on your cake, yeah your shit will get fucked up, but if the uncolonized part is just on the inside, they'll be fine dude I don't think contaminates can really get in there that easily.

Hi, i have a question about lightning. On first pictures u can see 4 shadows behind jars. Does this injure my jars somehow?

May be this is the problem why i don't see any pinns?

No, they'll be fine, but that foil isn't helping...You got a dry verm layer, right? That's your contam barrier.
The foil isn't allowing any GE

It's good that you don't see pins. Seeing pinning in a jar means that it's happening sooner than expected.

I believe he means gas exchange. Without gas exchange your mycelium will grow considerably slower (and possibly stall).
My first jars' inoculation points were very small (just big enough to get the needle in) and they colonized two times slower than my next set where I tripled the inoculation point size. This leads me to believe that gas exchange is extremely important during this phase.

Yup GE = Gas Exchange & it's extremely important during all types of colonization.
Pins are ok in your PF jars, as long as it's a week after full colonization.
I let my bulk tubs go a little longer, normally, till I see a few pins starting then introduce to fruiting conditions.

I'm on this stage
Quote:
Once they appear to be 100% colonized let them sit for another week to consolidate.
I didn't extract cakes form jars, i'm waiting to see pinns I read on fungifun
Quote:
Within 5-10 days (with certain mushroom strains it can however take up to 30 days) pinhead-size accumulations of mycelium should form.
So i don't know, maybe i must wait 30 days?

So, I'm going to be trying this technique. Seems great! It's similar to what I was doing before, but this method seems a lot quicker. And less work. I'll post up pics once I get it going!

I wouldn't trust anyone that isn't a shroomery sponsor. Might as well just see how it goes if you have bought from spores101. You don't have a whole lot to lose anyways.

If I have a fully colonized BRF cake, what is the best way to use a syringe with sterile water to squirt into cake and suck up myc water to use for future noc' ups?? do it from jar? or cake out cake?? Could i use the water from the DUNKING pot??

Your best bet is to take a sterile spore print and make a spore syringe. Then colonize some grains and make a grain LC or get into agar. Pf cakes are a bad choice for things like a cake to cake transfer or LC, since they have a contaminated barrier(dry verm) inside the jar.
The dunking water is the very last thing to make a LC out of, its been exposed to un-sterile conditions. The only purpose of the dunking water is to rehydrate the cakes.

Hi, i made poor man's terrarium ( 5 3l bottles)

Put some wet perlite on bottom. And i have a question, should i mist somehow cakes or wet perlite will be enough for humidity? And if it's not what water i must use? Boiled?
Also I read that water shouldn't hit cakes, it's bad for them. Apparently i should spray water on bottle's walls?
PS.: again sry for my english
