Too much humidity leads to stunted mushrooms, poor spore production and a contamination called verticilium.

You also end up w/ mycelium growing all the way up the stems.

So, is there any good way to regulate humidity if you're using perlite? Right now my cultivation has to be concealed, which rules out any kind of fancy casing/humidifier setup.

You could try fanning more often, or leaving your lid open a crack.

Is there any kind of seat-of-the-pants style method for determining humidity? I don't really want to shell out $30 for a digital gauge.
