Well here is a mono tub I did one brick of coir 2 quarts verm 4 quarts boiling water.. Then after it all cooled I mixed in 5 quarts of WBS spawn.. The mono tub is 18 gallon and the sub level is 4 inches.. I mixed all this together on the 30th so it has been 4 days and the sub looks GREAT..

yeah cause I had it all pushed to the that side when I was pouring in the spawn. Then I mixed it all up and used the shit that was pushed up on the side to be my top layer.

Do you have a trashbag liner in there?

Na I don't use liners.. I don't really worry about side pinning, if it happens then I pick them when it is time to soak the substrate for the second flush..

Also I am to lazy to worry about that, side pinning doesn't really bother me enough to worry about putting a liner in. I would tape off the outside of the tub if I was using a clear tub.

I hear you. Its one more step and they're kinda cumbersome to get in there right.
Thats some impressive growth for 4 days! Nice work!

I like the liner just to keep it clean; dump all the sub in the bag, then cut it down. No sub chilling out on the walls drying out/uncolonized. Not too big of a deal but every way to minimize risk helps.

I just wipe down the walls with a wet rag once it is fully colonized, at this same time I also replace the tape with polyfill.

Well it is an isolate from the fruits below.. Last time it was a really good pinset, I had like 5 dry ounces from the first flush. Below is a pic of what the normal clusters usually look like.

where did you take the isolate from, one of the fruits, or from the base of the cluster?

I took the isolate from the stem of a fruit.. Then I transferred it to agar and did 3 more transfers to get rhizo mycelium. But the fruit I took it from was from a cluster like the picture above, so I think that is why they keep growing in clusters..

man i have the easiest way to mix your spawn.
just put it in a trash bad and pour in the coir.then tumble it around some to mix it good.i use my hand to bounce it around from the bottom and stuff.then just pour it in and level it out.
it works great for me.

Yeah thats fine too but what I like to do is throw the coir in the mono tub when it is still pretty warm that way it kinda pasteurizes the inside of the mono tub as well.. I mean I always clean it out with bleach and what not before hand.. But I like to put hot ass coir in there too.. Then once it comes down to temp I add spawn.
