are my cakes done?
    #1158509 - 12/20/02 05:55 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

i innoculated 10, 1/2 pint jars, with 8 injection sites on each lid. its been about a week and a half and the jars seem to be 100% colonized.

my question is... what about the center? if the outside is colonized, how far done is the inside? my strain is B+ and im growing them in an incubator set at 86 degrees F

I'd say they're done. You could leave them in a week after 100% colonization, but I never do.

A week and a half is long enough, they should be done by now.

Not if he's using 8 innoculation sites. Atleast he's not going by the book ... or web document.

well, i use about 5cc's of my super super concentrated spore water. this stuff is like black with spore  i know it doesnt make a difference because theres so many spores anyway, i jus like to overkill things, like steralizing my jars for 2 hours in a pressure cooker etc... i got nothin' better to do

anyway, i innoculated 12 1 pint jars 3 days ago and all of them have very thin fuzzy white coatings on them, covering the entire outside of the cakes.

upupup: i colonize the BRF cakes then crumble for casings
