I just saw one that pinned while it was still in colonizing conditions, and there basically wasn't a pinless spot on the sub. First flush ran at about 8 oz dry. I guess if you're having trouble getting it to pin it might be of some help, but I haven't seen the need for it..

if in the coming days, the tubs do die a horrible death, ill taken em outside and cut the entire sub in half and take some pics to see how much was really colonized.

i hope they arent man but im not gonna bullshit you to be a nice guy on the shroomery ... and yes coffee helps the flushes to get bigger and verm adds some more water retention/bulk to it ... though you can use it by itself ...

maybe you should just PRETEND that you buried your tubs outside and forget about them for a week or so.

No, no, no, no, don't go outside and bury it yet. Didn't you just put it in conditions yesterday or something - just ride it out. Go play with your jars or something to keep your mind off of it.

if you're going to crack it open and do that you might as well case it if pin-set is something you're aiming for right ? fanning and misting tubs before first harvests is overkill to me being as it has still retained plenty of moisture for fruitbodies ...
taping tyvek over the holes and stuffing your poly-fil in when you shift to fruiting creates a dramatic enough shift in GE/FAE to trigger pinning ... fanning disrupts your Rh ... best saved for fc's IMO
Nice even pinsets lead to more fruits, more weight. If thats something you're not going for then let your tubs sit and grow knarled shrooms growing every which way that inhibit the growth of others.
Lower humidity 80-85% also causes more evaporation of moisture and more pins.
huh ? no shit dude ... all im saying is that if pinsets a priority as it should be then fucking case that shit and not mist and fan and fuck around with it like a fetish item ...
Casing will not improve your pinset unless you don't know what you're doing. Then it might help.
Tyvek, polyfil, micropore tape all allow GE. Polyfil might allow some FAE if it's loose enough.
Lose the attitude and chill the fuck out.

If you are having contam problems, coffee is the last thing you want to add.

Around 4-6 I guess. I've been sticking to 6.5 qt shoebox containers lately and they produce around 1.5 oz dry first flush.
The latest mono I did pinned early and fruited over thanksgiving while I was away and it came up to just shy of 3.5.

I'm not a big fan of neglect. I think the more "love" you give them, the better off they will be.
You'll be happy if you do.

Love them, I whole heartedly do. But I try not to cross the line between nurture and smother. For me this usually means leaving them to do their thing with a fan going in the room - and believe me, they like this. But who knows? it's all specific to the grow and the infinite particular variables involved. You've gotta play it by a case by case basis I suppose.
