Haha, you met the the twelve tribes! They are very nice people, but be careful! You'll end up on one of their farms worshipping Yashua! Their buses are friggin sweeet though. Good mate too. And sea salt. Did they give you bags of mate and sea salt to take home?
No they didn't give me anything except a small cup of mate and a cookie. The whole time I was in the that bus my friends and I were coming up on acid. Goddamn was that incredible. Those people seem really insightful, yet somewhat disturbing, like I was getting these warm vibes yet it seemed so out of place and weird. It was like the people were TOO nice. I checked out their website, frogstew.org, when I got home and they all seem like crazy conspiracy theorists now.

Oh god, lol. The whole sharing everything and loving one another is great! but the whole Yashua god thing seems to far out there and brainwashy for me. Is that why they teach their children at home? OR is it because society is a hateful, corrupt, and unjust system that is trying to control our lives and turn us all into sinners?
I don't think I wanna meet these people anymore, they seem too religious. THat's not the right word I don't think, but I feel as if I would go to one of their farms I'd never leave!
PS do they get high?

As for twelve tribes, this guy came up to us when we were kickin' it in the lots. He stared at Dark_Star for a bit and really looked creepy. Then he gave us reading material, at first glance it looks like happy lovin' PLUR whatnot, but upon further inspection they've got communes or something similar countrywide. It seemed like their pamphlets offered hope of meaning & purpose but never touched on "h ow"... a cult maybe?
Oh, and fuck bunk molly :thumbd own:
Ya that's it, a countrywide cult. That's the word I was looking for! Apparently they have a community in Brazil. THat's where they get their Yerba Mate from. I think the meaning and purpose comes from loving and accepting one another.

Definitely give the Phish a chance. Cheese and Phish can both build unbelievable peaks in their live shows like no other bands i've ever seen. Phish is only getting better, summer tour '10 baby!!!!!!

What? Dude, if you mean from a musicianship standpoint I'm sorry but SCI > Phish all day long. The dudes from Cheese are so on point, it's not even funny as a fellow musician, I almost can't believe how good they are live. To each his own, but don't make such definitive statements, because I feel the same way except replace cheese with Phish.
I've seen Cheese 4 times, and one of the weekends was supposedly the best they had ever played (I luckily was attending), and I have never had anything close to that at a live music experience. It's so much more spiritual and the vibes surrounding the true cheese heads and the band are just so good.
yeah indeed to each there own. but ya know, dont take me too seriously iv only seen phish twice
seen cheese 4 times aswell
at rothbury they really won me over. they had all cillinders blazing. really great set list. great spectecal with the dancers and balls and lights and whatnot. they played really well. also it was there first (second) show back from a long break so it felt like an amazing eruption of musical creativity. but every other time iv seen them has just benn fun. nothing overthe top. again its just not my particular flavor. and i like jamgrass and electronic music and spacy sythy stuff. but i just feel somtimes sci is just throwing really simple shit together into a "jam" for the sake of a "jam" and its not as flowing and real as it could be
of course the same goes for phish as well, some of there shit got sooo horrid twords the end there i can even listen to some versions of song i usualy love to death.
i just liek the 4 pointed gymorphic creatrue that phish is. its simple and can roll over on itself in so many ways.
al members of sci are extremly welll atuned to one another but they lack the same creature feature i like in live muisc

I hear where you're coming from, like I said I haven't seen Phish so I'm sure they deserve getting a chance live.
The first three times I saw SCI were all in one weekend (3 nights of Cheese ), on their farewell tour, Big Summer Classic at Camp Zoe and that weekend was at least 1000x better than Rothbury Cheese. I loved them at Roth, they chose a diverse set list that really revealed all of their capabilities as a dynamic band but I've seen the band get in tune with the crowd in ways that just didn't happen there. If you catch a Cheese set like this, you'll know what I mean, it's life changing. I can't wait for Cheese 2010 tour baby, I'm doing the whole thing.

Nope. Sober folks. They won't even let you carry your beer onto their bus. One of the weirdest part about the whole thing to me is that they go to these shows to recruit people. And people deep into a psychedelic experience can be a bit gullible in a way. They aren't blatant and annoying about it, but they are definitely there to recruit. None of them have any plan of actually going into the show. I first met them at a Widespread Panic show, ended up on their bus having a long conversation about evolution. They are creationists!

I've seen about 30 Phish shows (give or take) but Saturday will be my first one since 99. I'm really interested in hearing how some of these new songs jam out.
As for the 12 tribes, they're nice people and I think they do mean well but they're definitely cultish. You can always tell a tour noob when they confuse them with rainbows. Doesn't take too long talking to them to find out what's up with them though.
When it comes to the whole, this band is better than that band, I'd like to remind you of the wisdom of Dave Chapelle, "Some people like their cucumbers, pickled." Think about it.

I always hear great things about phish concerts. LSD at a phish concert, no way! My friends sister boyfriend has been to 200+ phish concerts, a seasoned vet. I have yet to see them tho. Glad you had a great time OP, sounds like a psychedelic adventure!
