Agar, should spawn this? (Pics)

Hi, this is the first time I have tried agar before. I am wondering what the experienced mycogurus think of these pictures. The myc seems more on the cottony side rather than rhizo... Should I go to grain with this or no...

My first time at shrooms, I went with that method. Personaly I would wait a little longer on those so it's more covered. Differnt types of mushrooms have differnt patterns some are more cloud looking while others look like alot of lines running.

What kind do you have going there?

I think you'd be fine with any of them. I've used very cottony sections from a primary spore inoculation [assuming that's what these plates are, based on the spotty growth] and gotten decent rhizo growth in grain jars. . . for an even better selection, though, you might want to consider transfering a wedge from one of those patches onto a new agar plate. The new growth will undoubtedly weed out some of the weaker mating combos and give you a better sector to pick from.
In reality, you do a similar thing if you transfer part of one of those patches to a grain jar----> a race ensues over the new substrate. . .the slower mating types get weeded out. Doing a second grain-to-grain transfer increases this effect even more; The best looking grain jars I've ever produced came from secondary grain-to-grain transfers, where the original agar growth was cottony.

It takes a little longer, but a second agar plate transfer might be a better way for you to go, but it isn't absolutely necessary.
