Can I improve my colonization somehow? (newb)
    #1157154 - 12/20/02 07:07 AM (18 years, 7 months ago)

The problem is my substrate: it's verm and BRF in a ratio of about 2 cups verm to 1 cup BRF - way too much BRF I guess. The substrate is very gummy and probably too tough for the little guys to root through. This was my very first grow.

The water level in there seems to be okay, but I have had them in the incubator for 26 days at about 84 F and they haven't gotten all the way colonized yet - they range between about 50-80% of the way there. Should I just be cool and wait? Is there something I can do to help them out?

B+ from sporeworks is the strain. thx guys

Just wait it out man... No worries... And that ratio of brown rice to verm is fine. That same ratio is listed in the faq on this site....

The basic PF recipe is 1/4 cup brown rice flour (measure the flour itself, not the brown rice if you grind it yourself), 1/2 cup vermiculite, and 60ml (4 tablespoons) of water.

Like he said everythings goings good, just wait.  And if i was you and i wanted to speed things up i would......
1. Order from www.TheLittleGuy.com  there #1 ask anyone, since you order from them you get more syringes for the money, making it able to put MORE ccs of spores per jar.
2. I havnt tryed this, BUT i heard it speeds up colonization PUT 1 cc in the middle of the cake along with the original 4 inculation points.
3. And if speedy colonization means that much to you the CAMBODIAN and SOUTH AMERICAN colinize faster the b plus.

What grade verm are you using?
Fine grade takes longer to colonise that a courser grade (not too course)
seems all good tho!
