Or just give up and play video games like a child of the 90s.

Maybe try getting into Graphic Novels. Its less reading, but just as much story. Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" series is TRIPPY. AS. FUCK.

What kind of stuff do you think about when trying to read?  Maybe the root of the problem is in those thoughts?  Are they reoccurring thoughts?

Anything and everything. I'll read something that reminds me of a conversation I had or something I had read in the past. Then I start thinking about that and before you know it I've completely zoned out and realized that I have read an entire page and can't remember a single bit of it. I'll read the word bike and start thinking about all the times I used to go bike riding with my friends when I was younger. I'll read about someone on a boat and think about all the great times I've had out on the water fishing or wakeboarding in the past. I'll read about someone reading and I'll think about all the books I used to enjoy reading. And sometimes I'll just zone out and think about the day or what I want to do later on in the afternoon.

Typical ADHD problem. Maybe it's just gotten worse as I got older.

I'd also like to try meditation but I have no idea how to do it correctly. The times in the past when I've been guided by someone has always resulted in near panic attacks. I've never been able to successfully clear my head. So much static it's almost tangible.

Same thing happened to me when I played Neil Armstrong in Moonshot. They found me in an alley in Burbank trying to re-enter the earth's atmosphere in an old refrigerator box.

For me, I have to have all my problems solved before I can read(homework, studying, assignments, family issues, whatever).
