i've grown a mushroom which i'm not even close to 100% sure of.

a spore print was obtained through the FSRE and was labelled, 'B+'. colonised on a simple BRF and verm. substrate. 4 1/2 pint jars turned into one simple vermiculite casing. after 30% colonisation of casing, it was allowed 3 hrs of light a day for 12 days, but with no other environmental changes from the jars. the casing was then neglected in the dark for another 14 days. during that period a mushroom had grown:

the cap is very cracked on the top and is white with a slight blue tinge where it is darker. this is possibly due to it being left to cotinue growing past maturity?

the gills are brown. the darkness on the stem is blue bruising from handling. the stem is wider nearer to the cap.

the cap hasn't started to turn upwards, past the horizontal. the bend in the stem is the growth over the edge of its container. more blueing is visible.

the outer edge of the cap is also cracked.

is this a B+ that was left to long? would that make it unsafe to ingest?
if not, what is it? if i had paid more attention, would it earlier have looked like a sterotypical gold cap? if not, what have i done wrong?

thankyou

If you need identification, this thread needs to be in the mushroom hunting forum, not here.

It is just cubensis grown in less than ideal conditions. It is safe to consume. It is nearly impossible to identify the specific strain even under the best conditions.

daussaulit: yeah i was thinking that, but the forum description and name suggests that it is for wild mushrooms, which mine isn't.

Workman: thanks. i assume it still is a B+ then. i was just thrown by the colour of the cap.

Penroc3: it is fresh, although i'm sure the water content of my casing during growth was less then preferable, which perhaps gives the appearance of being dried? i will take your advice. thanks.
