Curecat, I have never at any time believed that P.cyanescens and P.subaeruginosa are synonymous despite some Australian posters(I won't say who since I do not wish to embarass)(you can do a search or PM me if you really need to know) speculating such to be the case.
Regarding the hygrophanous nature of P.subaeruginosa I was only guessing (wrongly it appears) since dried specimens I examined were dark in color.
I'm unfamiliar with P.subaeruginosa in the fresh state so thanks again to those clearing up the matter of the hygrophanous nature of Psilocybes.:smile:

Nice work.  You caught a distinctive, perhaps identifying, characteristic.  Those are definitely not P cyanescens for a number of reasons.  I would charge the scabrous stipe as the primary one.
