Is "meaning" the meaning of life?

I was thinking about evolution and the progression (and/or degression?) of mankind and other life-forms here on Earth, and it occured to me that "meaning" isn't just man-made. Well of course the WORD is, but.. here lemmie give an example:
I ask my dog "you want some dinner?" and she flips out!! Those sounds and that vibe coming from Matt/Strumpling, my dog knows, MEANS that she will get food very soon.
Its also occured to me that meaning motivates people to take action. "Tom is going to kill me. This means I must get up and defend myself or get the hell outta here." If we applied no meaning to anything, I don't know if anybody would ever be doing anything.... I guess thats my point.
Any thoughts on meaning and what meaning means?

I don't think it is. Desire is the cause of suffering. Desire comes before meaning. Humans make their own meaning. There is not one true meaning to life because different people have different meanings in their life. I think the point of living is to live.

According to the existentialist view, life has no a priori meaning. In other words, you're life has no meaning until you give it one.

This is either way over my head, or way under my head.
It hurts my head thinking about what you mean.

I think..... something like meaning can not be easily communicated through language... you would have to write a detailed autobiography and cite specific examples from every learning experience you ever had, and it all would converge to become this THING that you strive for. and that's meaning.
Or you could just say the meaning of life is to live
damn why am I up at 3:40 am
