Just looking at those links,Does it work to
inoculate pieces of the same wood type that your
going to use.I know in said links anno was using beech to beech
but i'm thinking more the same tree and age as shop bought dowles
are well cured.if this doesnt make sense here a pic of what im
thinking of using for dowles.Any one tryed this way?

So im going to try willow to willow(same exact tree)
and hazel to hazel " "

Hey, you do not have to use dowel of the same species that you are going to inoculate. I think dowel would work better than the sticks that you have there. You just have to be sure that the dowel is hardwood dowel. If you try to use the sticks that you have there, I think that the bark will slip off when you try to hammer it in to the log, removing most of the inoculum in the process. Dowel is pretty cheap, I would say use dowel.

Cool ill prob try both i have a ton of dowle in the shed.
But i was just thinking along the lines of,Plant roots have an
ajustment periode when changing from one media to another
and i think i read some were mycelium does to.So to use the
same aged medium you may get a 1 or 2 day head start which
in the early stages of establishment could be useful. Also the bark
came of while boiling so not a prob now,and may lathe some
groves in for the mycelium to get a grip  got 4 tons of wood to
drill lol so i might as well try a few ways hu
thanks for the imput

Here's another post you might want to check out; It also has a good source for spiral-grooved dowels. The spiral grooving is recommended by FP, but I don't know how much of a difference it makes. . .supposedly holds mycelium better while being pounded into a hole, like the glue for which it was intended.

Although the mycelium should be inside the dowel by that time actually...
