yep, what a wonderfully redneck morning for me.
i am still trying to repair the damage to my car that was caused by me driving it into a lake.......
apparently the neutral start switch went out on my trans, which means that i cant engage the starter with the keys in the ignition. I have to physically connect a screwdriver to the power wire that goes to the starter cylanoid
but sadly, once i finally figured that out, the starter just spun, and did not actually turn the engine over. so then i had to start whacking it with a giant metal rod...
and by the time i went to see if that actually did anything, the battery was dead once again. oh joy......
what a morning,
but hopefully, with enough duct tape and enough persistence, i might get this fucking car to work again!

Shouldn't you energize the solenoid relay instead of beating it with a hammer?
ehhh what do I know, have fun! Sometimes I enjoy working on cars, but that was mostly when I was younger.

his current problem is that the bendix is sticking, simply raking
it apart and playing with it may fix it or it may show him the
reason, like a broken bendix

It's spelled solenoid (I think). Anyways, ya I've had to do that too.
My bug was a hell of a lot easier to hotwire (you could cross at the ignition behind the dash rather than having to crawl under the car to get to the starter/solenoid). I'd lose my keys all the time, so it became kind of a habit.

lake water is a little different that tap water, maybe there's
some silt in it or a fish, now slightly cooked

you can do the same with most vehicles, even easier with some,
jeeps and chevys (older) involve just breaking the left side of
the column and pushing down the rack, it unlocks the steering
and starts the car

well i seemed to get the starter working. just took a little bit of beating with a blunt metal object, and it knocked it back into working order. also have a nice switch wired up under the hood so its slightly less shotty....
