Can my foaf and "should" he fruit this tray as is without casing? its B+ ms wbs mixed 1 part to 2 parts coir with al foil on the walls and bottom of the shoebox, it incubated a few days and looks like that, if he lets it go longer wont it overlay? he read about coir overlaying, and wouldnt it potentially fruit faster? or better without a casing layer?
The two in that sg are already cased, and have been in there for almost a week, with pockets of myc breakthru, he is waiting patiently for pins, fanning and misting and fanning and misting.
only problematic areas *for him* without casing is 1. hes never done it before, but in that same sentence hes never done that method before either. 2. Could the pins appear through that think whiteness? the casing drags things out anyways, more colonizing, less fruiting going on, but would he be able to mist that without a casing? and more importantly would he need to mist in the same fashion as if there were a casing layer? as the casing dries out differently? (or does it?)

thats not fully colonized. you are worried about overlay but you spawned to coir and you need that to finish colonizing before you fruit it. probably should have at least incubated it a week. overlay only happens on casings and even then it rarely ever happens.
oh and use plastic trash bags instead of aluminum foil under your substrate in your trays. mycelium will easily eat through your foil.

OK, sounds like good advice to him, the written response lets him take his own ideals and your add the correct way of doing things, lets him learn correctly and he is grateful. He has 1 identical container he unfourtunately cased already *doh*
But its still sitting with AL foil over it, but he isnt using an "incubator" that is a dub tub with a fish tank heater in bottom with water, because he's read so much on it not being necessary and it blasts through that coir so nicely.
The above statement makes him relate that to why the myc hasnt broken through the casing layer on the ones he fruited already, but someone suggested to case and fruit immediately, but then again dont believe everything you read right? Take the things that make sense and grow from what doesnt. THANK YOU all so very much

most of use have never seen overlay in our projects, and never will. i would let that go for a few more days. ive never really got the point in casing, in my projects, ive never seen positive or a negative, to doing it, so i stopped after a few times. i think it jus adds a few unnecessary days to the cycle
