my ankle(s) ....
    #11542839 - 11/28/09 01:08 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

ok, so i love to run. i'm a very active person and i wouldn't have it any other way

but way back in february of this year i sprained my ankle very badly while drunk. so my ankle finally healed, and then i basically had to re-teach myself how to walk, and (i won't go into the story, it's not important) during that little 'rehab' phase i ended up with stress fractures near the ball of my foot.

so flash forward to now. that ankle, my left one, has healed just fine, stress fractures included. i made the mistake of trying to go out and lightly jog a little too early on in my recovery and ended up hurting my right ankle a bit... it still doesn't feel right, and i'm still not able to jog. i do a lot of walking.

ok so my question is, should i look into some type of therapy or should i just keep walking and take this all as slow as possible, assuming that my ankles/feet will repair and do what they need to do to get back to normal on their own?

thanks for listening...

Man my ankle has been fucked up for years. I had a stupid condition where my bones were fused together, so they did surgery saying it would make it better. It did for a while, but now it's still horrible. I just learned to live with it. I would also try getting one of those stretchy bands and doing strength exercises.

Ankle braces suck. I have a $200 air cast and it doesn't do anything for me.

Really? I had my ankle taped once and it worked perfectly. It felt really weird like I was floating but I could still be active. I don't know what the hell an air cast is. Most of the reviews on Amazon were good for a. braces.

I don;t know it's just some fancy brace that my doctor made me buy. I used to get my ankles taped all the time when I played sports in high school. That actually worked. Maybe I should start doing that daily.

Well, it seems like an ankle brace is basically "instant tape". Maybe your air cast sucks. You should try a different kind just to make sure.

it helps prevent further injury, so if resting your ankle would work then wrapping is probably the next best thing

(you need a physical therapist to wrap it). or try a brace.
