I agree. At least in the surrounding small towns around here, cops do show up. But that's just because they can't make arrests without someone first calling.

the cops have no obligation to do anything to protect anyone, they could
witness a murder and dont have to stop the killer, thank the judicial
system for that

so your putting your drugs above this womens life?  she could die, and it would be all because you wanted to wait for harvest....

maybe your calling 411 instead of the real number and thats why they never come?

anyways what it sounds like is they are just argueing not "fighting", your story just doesn't add up.  if this methead bitch is all battered and bruised/bleeding then the cops WOULD investagate, but when you call you must be telling them something like "i heard a door slam shut"

 what makes you think the cops even care she if is being beat? Theres nothing about the story that "doesn't add up" cops in many cities and towns just don't care.

Quite a few places have mandatory arrest laws for domestic abuse aka doesn't matter as long as it's been reported. So your theory that they don't give a shit doesn't really add up. You're acting as if all police officers don't care about the safety of anyone.

You just keep putting words in my mouth, never said anything like that some cops just don't care some do, your being a dumb ass on purpose.  Many cops tend to pay more attention and care to certain neighborhoods.

It is true that cops often dont show up. When I was living in this old apartment complex there were SO many domestic disputes in which lots of neighbors called the cops. I only saw cops show up maybe....4 times?

I remember one time there was a fat lady who was trying to kick in someones door saying she was going to kill some guy, screaming at the top of her lungs, and throwing stuff at people her were trying to calm her down. This lasted a good 3 hours and started at like 1am. My mother called the cops along with a handful of neighbors and no cops showed up. She eventually started taking out her anger on the guys car then left.

The town I was living in certainly had no shortage of cops. If anyone gets pulled over, even for a speeding violation or something, you'll see 3 cops lined up behind them as back up.

Of course theres a few good cops in every city, but theres just as many that are douche bags.

 Dude I watched him slap the shit out of her, grab her by the hair, then slam her into the ground and kick her in the yard one time. I dont really have a motivation to lie about this - i live in the ghetto and the simple truth is that there are bigger fish to fry. I live in a city with one of the worst crime rates in the state, and if its not a matter of life and death it will probably be put on the backburner for police.

I live in such a city.  If the cops are called to any house for domestic violence, they MUST arrest somebody.  This is in spite of what is found on the scene.

Calling the cops on people is retarded.

That sounds great and all, but..

I do not live in a city where people get automatically arrested, the police are overworked and understaffed here. If you really think that I would call the police on someone for some petty bullshit while I have a grow op in my own house then you have a misconception of what I am talking about. I had never called the police on another person before this incident.

I didn't mean to imply that.

I just have no faith in corrupt institutions.  If you want to get involved, I would suggest finding another way.

The very fact that you state a desire to do the right thing but are willing to accept zero accountability is cause enough to abandon the method.

I know a fair number of police officers (relatives) in other cities and they are not all corrupt, money-hungry morons. If anything, this is what the police are supposed to be most apt at dealing with. I'll go through different channels to try and do something about this, but I'm not going to put my own personal safety/security at risk for the sake of a redneck methhead chick that I don't even know - call me selfish :frown:

I'm not going to call you selfish.  The only thing I'll say is it doesn't sound like you are in a position to be of much help.

I never said that all police are corrupt.  I do however believe the police force to be a corrupt institution.  I feel the same way about our political institutions and even medical institutions.  You can call me paranoid.

I am dealing with pretty similar circumstaces.  My downstairs neighbor occasionally beats wife and son.  I have not actually seen it like you have, but I am sure enough that it is happening.  I'm not going to call the cops though because the shit is none of my business.  Any intrvention that I could perform would be clumsy and unskillful and could cause unforeseen harm.  I don't trust myself to know what to do and I damn sure don't trust the state to know what to do.

So, when I run into the guy I am respectful and cordial.  I ask how his family is.  When he is drunk and behaving like a fool, I tell him.  Beyond that, I really don't know what to do.

Your situation is different in the details but we are both dealing with a similar issue.  My guy isn't a tweaker.  He is a very large African refugee who has fought in wars.

except when it applies to police officers who happen to have a far
higher rate of domestic violence than the general population. you also
make this statement as if the cops are obligated to protect victims

there's thousands of these cases that have proven the police have no
obligation to protect the citizens and no liability for failure to do so
