I have't heard of anyone doing it, so go for it, but it may be really hard to get the water content right.

Oh yeah, whatcha gonna cook them in? You can't do jars (metal lids), so you're only option would be myco bags, and I'm not sure how they hold up in the mircowave.

i'm with daussaulit on this one.

pressure cookers are definitely needed for grain - the pressure allows temps of 250degrees for an hour, needed to kill all the microbugs that live inside grains. you'll never manage that in a microwave, plus it'll dry the fuck out of the jars. sorry if this isn;t the answer you wanted - i never heard of any grain successes without a PC

The hottest water can get in its liquid state is 100* celcius. It can get hotter but will start turning in steam. This is why a pressure cooker is needed.

You ever cook a turkey? You can put a turkey in a 350 degree oven for hours, and the meat is done when it hits about 185. As long as there's water in there, it's going to be below 212. What kind of jar are you planning to use?

if the jar is sealed, the water will expand and create pressure - like a mini p.c., however unless you are using some reinforced jars - once that seal is created, and the pressure starts to build.. the jars will explode. The pressure needs to be contained or released. Glass cannot contain 15psi.

There is some special glass you can buy from lab suppliers that can contain extreme amounts of pressure.

Sounds very expensive. Maybe more expensive than a PC.
