When to Spore Print

The FAQ said that you should create a spore print right after the spores begin to fall, but is it ok to create it right after the cap opens? I'm growing P. cubensis, and I want to harvest the mushrooms w/ open caps. Is it ok to harvest them as each cap opens, or should it all be done at once? Also, would making a print out of every cap then drying the cap affect the potency or anything?

No.

Yes, over a time of 1-2 days, but not longer.

Thanks, anno. Also, how long should it take after the veil breaks and the cap opens until I see some spores falling? Another thing... is it ok to pick aborts before the mushrooms are even fully developed?

Some strains drop spores earlier than others. You have to watch for the right moment. I've noticed Koh Samui drops spores while still closed. You have to pull the viel apart yourself or lose most of the spores.

Dont print right after the veil breaks. I did that and didnt get any spores. Wait for the first signs of spores all over the stem and then quickly print before it drops em all.

I needed to know if its safe to pick the aborts as soon as they abort and not wait for the rest of the mushrooms to mature.

If you know they are aborts, you can pick them whenever you want(before they rot preferably...)
