WOW! Fishtank bubblers get an A+

just needed to share this with everyone, even though im sure you know but my friends growing chamber just had perlite and he was fanning 4-5 times a day. he had six cakes in the chamber and they all grew pins, a medium amount for each cake. a day ago he added a fish tank bubbler with an air rock into a cup of water in the growing chamber, this must have increased the humidity dramasticly because the next day my friend had tons, and i mean tons, of new pins popping up everywhere!~ i definetly suggest getting fishtank pumps with air rocks, they work very well for very cheap! whole setup -$15. i do got a question though, does the pump stay on 24/7 or should it be turned on at different times throughout the day? thx guys!

24/7 for pinning, then when you have all the pins you think that substrate can support, take it away altogether. the lowered humidity suits the growing babies better (i think).
any other opinions welcomed.

Really? Interesting.....your saying to leave it on 24/7 with perlite? Has this worked for anyone else?

I live in a place with dry air. I've noticed if the bubbler is left on for more than 4 hours at a time, it dries out the terrarium.

If anything, I worry about my bubbler drowning my cakes. Looks like I'm sticking to 8 hours on.

It depends on your climate and what you've observed your bubbler doing to the terrarium's environment. I put mine on for 8 hours a day. I figure it takes care of a few air exchanges and at the same time raises the humidity a good deal. Still haven't seen pins though, so you may want to ignore me

im not saying theres anything wrong with spraying, just saying that my friend noticed the dramatic "good" difference in his growing chamber after connecting the fishtank bubbler to it. He sprayed before he used the air bubbler, he thinks the air bubbler is better.... or at the very least helps out a lot. BUT, this is all personal opinion....

I guy I met at the pub last night said he leaves his bubbler on 24/7. He has perlite in the terrarium and fans a few times a day. This setup seems to work fine, although there has been indications of problems caused by high humidity. Perhaps next time, he said, he will remove the jar of water and have the pump blowing dry air into the chamber when his cakes fruit.

8hours a day, with 2 holes small holes just above perlite level on each side of terrarium, NO fanning needed... Weather you think thats bullshit or not, here?s the results...

yep! run it as often as necessary to maintain the right humidity. it may take trial and error. i ended up at 15 minutes on/15 off 24/7.

kramer cut the top off a gallon jug, filled it with perlite, stuck an air pump tube in it just last week. he leaves it run 24/7 (he works with casings) the r/h in kramers apt stays at 50-80%.he has seen an explosion of pins. the best part and the reason he got the pump NO FANNING!!! it works for kramer so far

I use my bubbler simply for air exchange, any increase in humidity is not needed as I get all the recomended rh from the perlite, ohh that strain is GT... incredible strain, my fav so far..

well the bubbler is the airstone, kinda bluish in color normally attached to a tube via air pump. it works extremely well for the pinning stage, and it also depends on how good of an air pump your using, the humidity is wonderful for pinning, after pinning, you want to reduce the amount of time you have the bubbler running, i left one running in a terranium once 24/7 for 3 days, the increased humidity did a lot of damage to the maturing fruits.
