Wild crafted bark..

Irie, So one of my guys has just dropped off this mulungu buttress root bark. As well as some Mombin. The only use I've heard of is the calcium in the yopo. Now I'd like to start off a discussion on wild crafting barks. The Mulungu comes off much like cinnamon & I expect it to dry in a similar fashion. I'm also going to be hacking down one of my tabebuia chrysantha Pau d’arco, trunks, in the near future. Looking at doing a similar thing with that too. Mulungu Mombin

Excuse my ignorance Zaka, but what do you do with the bark of each species?

Irie, The Cocoa is the Mrs., she'll pound them into a wooden mortar & pestle, then roll into balls, which are dried to solid bars, kept in the fridge and grated for the morning tea. I try and spike the tea with different medicinal plants in order to get them in to the kids. example; Justicia pectoralis for fevers, Lemon Bay leaf, cos it taste so good! You can slip almost anything in there! The Moringa leaf is dried and crushed into a powder. One gram of this has pretty much all the vitamins you need for one day. I like to sprinkle it into my Jamaican ackee & rice, it's knocking! But I been trying to help a friend that has cancer & can't keep much food down. This stuff helps a lot. The tabebuia chrysantha Pau d’arco, I had planted this tree some years ago, mostly for it's fantastic bloom of huge yellow flowers. Whilst I was doing some gardening, I found the bright yellow roots, same color as turmeric. This got me thinking & I started digging around to find out it's uses. This another one I slip in the tea, but most of this will be ground up for my friends cancer treatment. The Mombin I some times use for carvings, but I wanted to try and make some snuff ash. Just focking around. I really wish I knew about the mulungu last year. Had a storm that knocked down 6 huge trees about 120 feet tall. That would probably enough for a life time! Respect Z

Thanks for the schooling Zaka, I hope your friends condition improves.
I bet that Cocoa smells great. Moringa sounds interesting, I just been doing some reading on it and it has some great qualities. A good one for the garden methinks...

Irie, The Art of tooling Canelle, Cinnamon. First slice off with a shape knife the outer bark.
Cut just through the bark.
Then gently knock with a Rum bottle.
Then peel back the bark. Respect Z

I have some molungu bark in my fridge. It's relaxing to drink the tea now and then.

Irie Stoney, Yeah been hitting it hard, fresh & with the fresh cinnamon, the Mrs loves it. 2 cups of tea at night, then refill and steep overnight, reboil in the morning. Got a nice zing to it! She has been much more chilled, lately. Nice real nice! Respect Z

Irie Tripsis, If they grow wild.....yeap it's a friggin' jungle out here. The Cinnamon trees are from the guy in the photos land. It's like 3.5 acres of rainforest. You know parrots and tarantulas, tree ferns & orchids. They get harvested when they about 15-20yrs. Respect Z
