Hiya all
Just a couple of quick questions: I'm considering making up some PDA, however the only glucose / dextrose that I can find on the high street contains a small amount of vitamin C (I suspect this is because the charvers cut their Niki Lauders with it). Will this adversly affect shroom cultures in any way? It is a shame if this is the case as Superdrug are currently selling 2 x 450g packets of the stuff for £1.99.

Also, is Geordie Beerkit Enhancer, available from the trusty Wilkos, a good choice for making up LCs; Has anyone had much luck with this? It's a blend of sprayed dried malt extract and dextrose blend similar to Muntons. If it is suitable then what proportions of enhancer / water should I use? Oops, that's 3 1/2 questions.

Any help here greatly appreciated.

Haven't tried either of those (might citric acid make pH too low?) but if you've got the means, I'm sure we'd all appreciate knowing whether they work for you. If I pass a wilkos I might test out that second one.

I have been using the beerkit enhancer for over a year now. I'm sure if you search this thread it will come up. I use it in lc's and agar. Lc's at 4%, and agar 2-4% depending on what I'm doing.
You can use the dex-c stuff as well, it will give you a clearer lc, but honestly you want the malt in the BKE for nutrition IMO.

this also works for LC/agar, tho you better adding LME too for better results.

The beerkit enhancer is awesome becuase its ME and dex already mixed.
Though if you planned on using it for agar and lc a lot, money wise you would probably be better off buying the LME from the link in the first post, and the dex in boots or morrisons or someplace like that.

I'm one of those census delinquents. Meh, I'll do it if they hassle me.
I bought a small bag of alder chips at a fairly steep price for doing spawn bags of Ps. cyans, but for a larger amount (for spawning) I went into the woods where there are old-growth trees, and I'd noticed the wardens had done some chipping (Ashtead common, near the Roman villa). I'm just going to go ahead and assume it's the right kinds of wood.

I was a manager for the census in the states once. Was fucking silly. I was like 22 and was the youngest one out of the 20 people that were working for me. I had to train them and do everything from problem solving to tech support on my own. Had to deal with a few farmers with gun situations as well. Good times. Pay was good and got paid by the hour.
I'd get ahold of a tree surgeon. I talked to one last summer for fresh hardwood chips. He told me 7-8 meters for 30 pounds. I thought that was an awesome price. I need to get some over to my allotment. I jsut had some conifers and a pussy willow chopped down and they left the chips there for me. Its mostly conifer chips so I dont know what I can do with them. any ideas?
