Think it's best to find the cheapest/larger cooker you can then find the jars to suit.
We have all done some hilarious shops I'm sure. I get funny looks when buying 24 jars of Tesco Value Beetroot every time. Great LC jars for 21p.
If you have the money to invest then go for the PC Base mentioned. I frikkin love my 1000ml Mason jars , they are the best thing for it, not cheap but great. Something that holds 5+ would be a boon no doubt.
I know Base isn't thrilled with it and not sure about Tetriana, but I'm also very happy with my Hawkins Big Boy 14ltr. Takes a little getting used to but it's worked great for me.

I would suggest getting one of the SEB army surplus pc if you can find one in working order.
These guys: http://www.tentsplus.co.uk/cook.htm have used SEB 18L's for £45-£65 depending on condition.

Thank you all for this extremely useful info. I'll certainly make enquiries about a used SEB. I love it when a plan comes together.

Don't get me wrong I love the 14L after the old used 6L's.
Thing is though its got the funky lid.
Plus the 18L is bigger, cheaper, and doesn't have the room lost from the lid design.
In my amatuer opinion I would suggest the 18L alllll daaaaaaaaaaaay.
Hey solarity, what do you think of the cost of running the electric vs gas?

Roughly Natural Gas is 3.9p/kWh Electric is 13p/kWh However to boil the same amount of water it uses roughly 3 x the amount of gas to the much more efficient electric. So in other words about the same!
However LPG that you get in the bottle is 2 to 4x the cost/kWh of natural gas so in that case electric is cheaper.

Thanks for that.
Now any body care to explain the insufficiency of electric over gas? Is it because of the submersion of the element?

Yes. An electric heating element is almost 100% efficient, it's also quicker meaning less time to lose heat from the PC (though this is less significant in a long cook).

mains pressure hot water, instant hot water, no tank needed, no thermal loss during storage...
But in terms of efficiency, - well compared to a pan on a hob a combi boiler is much, much more efficient! A new combi is around 80-85% efficient though still lower efficiency than an electric heater - but that does not matter as gas is 1/3 price.
Oh I should clarify my original ans was for an immersed element - an electric hob is the least efficient and most expensive!

Was all going just fine until 2 weeks ago when my premises that were supposedly all sorted bar the signing, suddenly went pear shaped. Now I am running around trying to find a replacement before I miss the summer selling season.

Sorry to interrupt, but this thread started out useful and now it is so long there's no way to distill the VENDORS out of all of the other info...All I want is a good, reputable spore vendor that isn't going to charge me 96 quid to ship the stuff from the United States...Who ever thought Sporeworks was a viable vendor for the UK hasn't looked at their site lately...
Can anyone help here...I tried Magicplants, but the syringe had no visible spores...took forever to arrive and then nothing grew...I'm not a noob and used to swear by Sporeworks when I lived in the US, but the shipping is a total rip-off...

Email Sporeworks. They will sort you out.
Two syringes shipped for 5 bucks. If you want to order a ton of syringes just email them and tell them to sort it out for you. Say you want 6 syringes, that's 3 packages but only 15 bucks total shipping for you.
Either that or I here that pot seeds does alright syringes. I even heard that they get there syringes from MRCA, but I don't know that for sure.
And if your not a noob what you doing ordering syringes?
Unless you want new strains.
FSRE, and some agar go a long way as well.
I started out with a syringe that some one gave me. Then came to this site. Between 6 orders from FSRE, and trades within the community I've come up with about 50 cube races, a handful of other psilocybe species, and about 15 edible species. All that in less than a year.
I'm sure it you wanted to you could come up with what ever you wanted and never have to touch a vendor.
I have.
Its a really helpful bunch of guys around here.

What you after anyways?

Sporeworks only charge a £5 for shipping. I was looking just now to buy some stone producing spores but they are not accepting credit cards ATM only phone orders.
I need to shut my green house down for now while I try to sell my house. Stone producers would be ideal for me ATM.

Starting from scratch brother...Got nothin' to trade and barely any supplies except a pressure cooker and a couple of Bonne Mama jars...Just want to get something moving fast and then, once I am up and running, I can start trading and such...I can either do PF Tek, Rye, LC...But unless FSRE spots me a print, I'll be buying and starting from syringe...

MRCA is great, used them for some exotic syringes when they had a deal on early last year. In Europe too, not sure if they do a discount for shroomery members, maybe worth an email to find out.

Yeah...MRCA looks good...Just waiting to hear back from them...They have a disclaimer that says that they disclose the contents of the package on the shipping label...That sounds kinda scary...

The spore syringes I got from MRCA were a load of crap. They were EQ's and had no visible spores inside. After knocking up 10 jars only 1 showed any sign of growth.
