Great, that will be a nice simple recipe if it works - if it doesn't.. just have to make beer instead... shame...

Yep saw that, and was just about to ask you the mix ratio for the LC!. Sorry but what is "dex-c"? (got some seriously weird shit when I googled it!)

This might be useful, I bought all my environmental controls (for gourmet), thermometers etc. from these guys: http://www.forttex.com They also have aquarium heaters and air pumps. Nothing fancy but the products are very good and so are the prices.

Screwfix! Gotta love that service - admittedly their flat rate shipping would be too much for just a box of gloves...

Bought 300 dishes from our man with the Petri's (see about 2 pages back for his email) and he also did me a great deal on a bunch of these jars:
The one on the right is sterile and the one on the left is autoclavable (though untested as yet) thought they would be great for culture storage - both about 20ml. His ebay user name is "cheaplabstuff" - think he just changed it

No id on the plastic lids, but the sterile ones are one time use, price was about the same as you paid. Looks like he has almost run out of stuff at the moment!

I'd go halves but how do you divide a roll of parafilm? Is it like sellotape on a roll or does it have its own backer?
Cole Palmer is showing as £14 + Vat for parafilm here do they have a minimum order or stupid delivery costs - sure its hidden somewhere!
Edit ..found it "up to 25kg (!!)" £9+Vat delivery so 30 boxes of parafilm are the same price to deliver!

If you were going to spring for the 18, I'd just get two 14L tbh. Not much more and yeah. Lot more capacity.

Damn fine idea!

Yes anything coming into the UK over £18 (£40 if its a gift) would have VAT charged on it, plus customs (depending on TARIC code, used about 3.25%) over £135 All the details here: HMRC

Another score for the UK supplies thread - I picked up that new 18L army surplus PC on flea-Bay, so thanks for the heads up Base and the reccomendation Fractal!
If anyone else is looking for one I found and emailed these guys: http://www.tentsplus.co.uk/cook.htm and they emailed to say they have a few of the same 18L's for £45-£65 depending on condition.
