Hello fellows
It really is difficult to find so many of the supplies that our American friends take for granted.
Anyone know a supplier of (reasonably-sized = much less than 25kg) blood meal, by itself? Without bones or other stuff?

Thanks Zed, I searched on B&Q's website and got zero results. I'll take a look in store next time I pass by, and check Wilkinson's as well.

How about Tyvek generally? Is it available under other names in the UK? Anyone know a good source?

Ordered some off ebay, thanks for the tip. I've seen painting overalls in B&Q etc, but so far they've never mentioned tyvek. They were that porous polyester stuff - with the little regularly-spaced holes - which I don't think is the same thing (now, whether it would work or not, different story I guess, not willing to experiment with it yet!)

Yah, those and 'innocent' veggie pots are good for various things. I use them for dunking individual cakes.
BTW everyone, Sainsburys "small resealable all purpose bags" (sandwich bags) are not watertight. Two nights in a row I've been trying to use them to fill syringes from a print, whilst my valuable spore water leaks all over the floor of my glovebox. The first time I thought it might be my fault, but now I'm sure they're just fucking leaky.

Print in baggie, empty blanks into baggie, rub spores off print, fill syringes by poking them into baggie. Works great unless your baggie's already got holes

Did the exact same thing . Look up the recipes for PDA on this site; you can find UK sellers on Ebay selling agar (vegan food sellers) and dextrose (workout supplement sellers) in powder form.

Dextrose is a type of sugar, yes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dextrose (it's not glucose though)

Sounds like you've got it.
Making your own agar this way is going to be a lot cheaper than those 100ml bottles they're selling online.

I can vouch for both MRCA and FSRE (!!!) for spore prints. There are IME some other (non-sponsor) UK-based vendors supplying good quality syringes.

I just use micropore over the lid hole. Try not to get it wet when you agitate though. Further discussion should be in mush cult.

Yes, the "Deluxe glass Preserving Jars 1000g" from Barnitts can just barely fit 2 inside those PCs, though you have to stand up one and lay the second one on top of it horizontally. They're small PCs but they get the job done.

I would never buy that thing. Given how dangerous a faulty PC could be (think fatal) and the fact that we don't know what PSI it can reach, I'd say picking up the ~£30 Prestiges from Argos (see earlier in the thread) is a much safer bet. They're small but they do 15 PSI and you can trust them.

We're talking about supplies required for the cultivation of mushrooms. Did you mean to join some other site? Perhaps you were looking for this one?
Or perhaps you're just too fucking lazy to use the search function, and don't mind coming across like a retard?
Not only do you seem dumb, but also you can't spell, punctuate, or form coherent sentences. Also, you've been registered on this site for 2 years, yet you seem to have learned very little. Why interrupt an intelligent, informative thread to publicly declare that you don't know your arse from your elbow? It isn't witty BTW.
PS> Maybe all your grows wouldn't contam if you took the time to learn about IPA and what it's used for.

Ego I can send you another (of a different type?) if you need it.

Picked up some of this at Maplins tonight (not behind the counter though - buddy asked me if I wanted it for my xbox - umm yeah, that's exactly right). It doesn't seem to have a percentage marked on it. Does that suggest it's pure 100%? If so, should it be diluted down to (say) 70%?

Anyone know a meatspace store that sells distilled water? Searches of the Co-op, Sainsburys, Waitrose, ASDA, Boots, Homebase, B&Q, and Wilkinson websites turned up nada.

Good thought badman. A search of their site turns up only 'de-ionized' water, which I know isn't the same -- but is it equally good? If I boil it to sterilize?
Thanks Doc_T, but things that are common in the US can be frustratingly difficult to find here (as you've probably noticed!). It looks like I can order distilled online, but it just seems goofy to have a courier bring me a gallon of water at work (which I then have to carry home on my motorcycle).
Some of the stores have distilled water for ironing, to which they've then added fragrances and other nonsense.

Humidifiers? In the UK? Hahaha. Ha.
Homebase has a nice selection of de-humidifiers though .
If you want a humidifier around here the best bet seems to be ordering from Amazon etc.

(Indeed -- "for something" -- I'm pretty sure that adding a humidifier to my 'wish list' on was part of what caused Amazon to start recommending Paul Stamets books to me )
I'd like to start using something purer than Brita-filtered water for syringes (I make a fair few of those) and to dilute IPA which as you've noted probably wouldn't require distilled.
