Saw some big ass jars yesterday in the co-op. Sarsons pickling vinegar. They're about the same diameter as a dolmio jar but extra tall, I think it was about 1.2lt. They were on offer 2 for £2. I'm going to check that it's not too tall for my hi-top PC. I recon you could get 3 or 4 in at a time if the height is ok.

What are these jars? Do you have a Prestige 6 liter high dome? I do and would like to know if they fit.
These are the jars http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/asda-compare-prices/Oils_And_Vinegar/Sarsons_Distilled_Vinegar_for_Pickling_114L.html?ShowSwitchSMBar=3 I also have a Prestige 6 and am pretty sure they will fit. I'll measure them up tomorrow and make sure. It will be great if they do could save me quite a bit of time.

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and buy some jars. I'm not too happy about my lids going rusty. Any one know of a better deal than this?
I saw some Kilner jars in Wikinsons for £2 the other day hope they knock the price down in the sale.

Those jars were too tall once you raised them of the bottom of the cooker. The jars I saw in Wilkys I'm guessing are seasonal stock, not seen them in there before so with a bit of luck they might drop the price in a few weeks.
I'm just not happy with my lids getting rusty holes after one use.Would that still happen with proper jars you think?

I got those jars and they arrived in 36 hours. They are the cheapest I've found by quite a bit. They're good and solid and perfect in my cooker.
What cooker do you have?

Any one here growing using a green house? Wondering what humidifier to get. I've not seen a cool mist for sale anywhere. Could I get away with only using a ultrasonic?

I bought a box of 500 dishes a few months ago and have only used 20 so far. If any of you want to do a trade for some prints or edible agar wedges we could sort something out.

I've bought that farm manure from B&Q in the past, not for shrooms but for the veg patch. It didn't look like horse poo, Think its the crap they scrape out of the cow sheds. Very moist and very smelly.

A couple of sellers on eBay seem to be selling them, asking £169-£189 (new - also saw a used one in nice condition for £100). So, fairly affordable.
They seem to be Chinese-made (though shipped from sellers in the UK), stainless steel, pressure/temp gauge, can run on electric power or on the hob (I think). 18L, seems like they go 20-23 psi (125C-129C) on electric power, and waiting to find out if that's adjustable, though you could presumably run it at lower pressure/temps on the hob.
Thoughts?
I was looking at those the other week and it did seem tempting, but in the end I figured if I was going to spend over £100 on a PC I might as well save up the extra and get an AA.

How do you know when the gasket is knackered?
My mum used the same one for about 16 years, that was a hi-dome she used it about twice a week.

I used MRCA for my first lot a spores. The B+ was fine but the EQ syringe looked totally clear, couldn't see any spore at all. Out of 7 jars only showed any growth and that was in one area. I ordered from Sporeworks last time and their syringes look miles better, full of black clumps of spores. I'll stick with them from now on.

I'm sure it's not of the same last-you-a-lifetime quality as an AA, but it's badass all the same. Also, it's goddamn huge. After using a little 6lt prestige hi-dome, this thing makes it seem like a toy.
So how many jar are we talking?

Woo hoo. Thanks.
I wonder if that reconstituted coir is any good? It would be a hell of a lot easier to make half batches if the normal stuff wasn't in bricks. Have you ever tried getting one of those cut in half?
Coir bricks are easy to cut, I use a normal wood saw. They cut nice and clean.
I just noticed that the free sample is one tiny ass piece of coir, not worth the effort IMO.
Very good prices on that site though if you buy in bulk but if you only want one or two to try out you can get it at pets at home for £2.69
