Colonized jars in fridge?
    #1152139 - 12/18/02 03:06 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

How long will a fully colonized jar last sealed in the fridge? Say I put one in there and three weeks later come back and case it...do you think it will work? Thanks.

I think it will be o.k. for three weeks. Clean your fridge real good and put the jars in another airtight container to protect them from contams.

Cold temperatures just slow down the growth and development of the mycelium. Its a good way to keep your cakes from growing if you happen to go on vacation. 3 weeks in the fridge is probably ok, but any longer might cause some damage.

In the fridge? Full colonization will be closer to 3 months.
