contaminations
    #11521132 - 11/24/09 08:28 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

I work in a small closet. I spray 30 minuets before with oust. Then I do my work. I have done about 80 jars now and have only had 1 or two sour jars.

my QUESTION is how many jars have you done, in what conditions, and how many have been contaminated.

I have done one cycle, and in that cycle were about 10 jars, none ended up being contaminated.

I worked in my kitchen, turned off the heat 2 hours before procedure, sprayed house down with Lysol, and then wiped down the table and anything that went onto it with alcohol. I used an inoculation chamber, but it's too small and I doubt I will use that one again.

i do G2G without a GB and haven't gotten a contamination yet and I have done 70. My only contamination came from some PF cakes. Agar on the other hand I have not tried yet... I am thinking about buying a hepa air filter instead of building my own flowhood.

you need a GB for agar
anything that lands on it will germinate

Can you tell my how long colonized agar will last for in the fridge?
Was it difficult at first to tell the diffrence between the good stuFF and contamination's?
