puddling in jars
    #1152094 - 12/18/02 02:49 PM (15 years, 4 months ago)

Hi, I have a lot of jars in the incubator still and about 20 (fully colonized) out so they can get light. There is quite a bit of condensation inside all. I'm a little worried but I don't think it's too bad. There's several drops of water --average diameter a little less than a half inch-- clinging to the glass and touching the mycelium. I don't want to do the straw tek to suck out the water. Mycelium looks o.k. to me. Pinning is taking a while though. My question is this: Is it sooo bad to let this excess condensation be? I'll post pics if necessary. Thanks.

It's happened to me, and they turned out fine.

If they are fully colonized, just loosen the lid to let them air out a bit.

Or you can turn them upside down and let the water run into the verm layer where it shouldn't hurt anything.

I've always had condensation in every jar i've made. Especially towards the end of the colonization process, and when incubated. Your good to go... Dont worry.

Always happens to me also.  The thing you'd wanna look for would be large standing puddles on the bottom of your jars.  I'm pretty sure the condensation is a good thing.  Healthy myc.
