horse manure

I am growing B+ on rye. Is it correct I can not use horse manure with wood chips in it? That it must have been baking in the sun for at least a week? Are there any other things I should look for?

Most wood chips will be pine or cedar, and you don't want those. If it happens to be aspen or something, it's usable.
Aged, dry. No smell, or just smells like dirt. No ammonia.

You make it all possible. Doesn't it feel good?

Avoid using horse manure with wood chips; it was most likely swept out of the stables. The wood chips are probably cedar - they're an anti-fungal agent.

You want horse manure from the field.

Which is why it is advised to use "field aged horse manure" instead of just "horse poo".  This shows why using proper terminology here is so helpful to new readers.  This would have been easily answered with the search function, by the way. ~P~
