Using Dehydrator as a Temporary Heater?

Alright, so it hovers between about 45 and 55 in my house, so that's too damn cold for colonizing grains, at least with any speed at all.
So a little bit ago, I decided to heat the room my jars are in (a closet) with my dehydrator top turned upside down. It's a Nesco fd61 and I just have it set at 95 (lowest)
So does anyone think it will burn out or anything else bad will happen? Or has anyone ever used one to heat a small area.
By the way, this is only temporary, 1 or 2 days, I'm getting a space heater

I suppose it would be possible, if I needed warmer temps I would make a TiT

Yeah, but this is for really, like 1.5 days tops, and I always used to just let them colonize at room temp, but with this space heater maybe I'll do them at about 70ish.
I just don't want to render my dehydrator useless haha.

I run my dehydrator off the hook making jerky, so they can run for days on end np. I've scorched my jars before, be careful with heat

Try a candle warmer in a closed cabinet. It works great for me.

Damn thats cold! I'd need the heater for myself!
I guess it depends on the size of the room. It might work well in a closet for a very short time.
If you're going to get a space heater in a day or two the jars should be OK left as they are.
This is a perfect example of why SOME folks need incubators.

I know haha, I've had my jars elsewhere until now, and they just feel like they are probably pissed at me when I touch the freezing cold glass so I figured I'd better please them so they wil be nice to me in the FC
I just don't want to pay, even a couple bucks, for a TiT because I'm getting a free space heater.
This sucks though, because in the morning, it has been slightly warmer outside than inside up until a few days ago.
I couldn't imagine how long it would take to colonize if I left them in <50 degree temps for the entire duration...
And it's only going to get colder...
On a semi-related note, are there any regular household items or appliances or electronics that can be damaged by constant temps in the 40s? Just planning for winter haha.

To save I live with 4 people and it's an old house with crappy windows/insulation, so we don't feel like paying out the ass for a warm house I guess haha. It's not too bad once you get used to it, just wear layers whether you're inside or outside.

Lots of people keep their houses cool. I live alone- if I leave, I turn off the heat. If I'm working a few days in a row, it'll get down into the 60s or lower.

I wouldn't use a dehydrator as it'll probably burn your fan out, not to mention, if it's heated it will overheat due to the airflow blockage(your jars) and malfunction which may result in a fire..
LCD screens as well as plasma screens can be affected if not ruined by freezing temps.. but anything above shouldn't matter -- also pipes can freeze if the temp drops too low and that's one biiiig problem, unless you like indoor swimming pools
