Dude, you'll get your mushrooms. Talk to them in your spare time. Build a relationsipp with them. When it's time to munch, you will see your mushrooms and they will talk to you. bringing up old memorys of how you spoke to them, encouraging them to not be shy.

hay man i would try casing the other 1 once it 100% colonized. as soon as you see mycelium poke through put into fruiting. you can see which way you like better. i just really like casings.

Substrates are kinda like that too. Take a deep breath, and step away from your substrate. Your overattention is harming it. You dug a chunk out of it for no reason.

U made my morning lol !!

listen to what everyone else is saying give it more time it can take a while especially if your sub is too wet
dont go digging any more chunks out of that sub either that will only slow it down and open a door for contams
as for it not looking colonized in the middle think of it this way have you ever broken up a BRF cake? seeing it bright white on the outside only to find out it doesnt look like that in the middle but its still colonized
what im tyrin to say is a substrate wont be that white thru out but will still be colonized
heres a few pics to help me explain this is what these cakes looked like before i crumbled them

same two cakes after i crumbled them

not white any more but still colonized
give it more time they will be fine

You have had bunches of, in my opinion, experienced people comment. I mean I'm a n00b too but me eyeballing my tubs and opening them up to dig out chunks won't help anything. It takes time to colonize big ass tubs with low ratios. I too am sitting on top of what is soon to be 3-4 64 quart tubs, a couple of 180 quarts, and some buckets. I know how you feel, but either it'll work or it wont. And the longer you wait and more colonized they get the more contam resistant they are. No offense really, but maybe spend some time researching to get your mind off of the tubs.. forget about em for a couple of days at a time maybe.

btw these pictures you posted put me at ease. other members were implying that the underlayers of the frosting should be all white if colonized.

Just posting so I can keep track and see what comes of this whole ordeal. An entertaining read for sure.
Really though, you digging that hole was some funny shit. You make a post about a possible contamination and then 8 minutes latter you take a spoon to it. Classic
Thats going to be funny seeing a thick carpet of shrooms with a bald spot. (see I kind of busted your balls with the hole digging thing and then brought it back by saying you'll have a big flush so we can still be interweb friends cant we?)

Yup I do. Never had a problem. Tub after tub. But I layer it double thick on the top and I don't mess with low spawn ratios.
