Pet hair and contamination?
    #2761103 - 06/03/04 04:49 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

Okay....
I have a dog, and keep a pretty damn clean house... but this dog... and American Eskimo, sheds daily, even with brushing!

How concerned should I be about cat/dog hair accidently infecting my mycobags? The hair is often airborne, so I'm not sure what to do....

Any suggestions?

Danks!

Hello MissJazzy.

I also have 2(not one,but 2)Cocker Spaniels,1 Miniature poodle,1 Maltese/poodle mix,2 African Grey(Congo)parrots,1 Love Bird,1 Plum Head Parakeet!!!!And soon to be added to my collection-A Blue and gold Macaw!

I keep a relatively clean house.I have no problems with contams up until I try to get a 3rd flush from my casings. But I am doing everything manually too, fanning and misting. So I expect them to contam after awhile do to all of the pet dander that I can't see to clean up.I do all of this right next to their food and water dishes in my kitchen.
My Cocker Spaniels shed like crazy.

As far as a Myco-bag goes,I don't think anything can get in those bags once they are sealed, and even if there were hair in one of them,I would assume sterilizing would kill any contam it contains.
I wouldn't worry too much Jazzy,You should be fine.

My two pennies!

I've done sterile work in a glove box with three massive, fluffy, clog-up-the-vacuum cleaner breeds of dogs in the same house.

Never had any problems.
