Ingredients of Instant Potato Flakes

It says you can use 5g of potato flakes in the agar recipie for PDA but are the ingredients in potato flakes a concern?

Potatoes
Monoglycerides
Sodiun acid pyrophosphate
Sodium Bisulphite
Sodium stearoyl-2-lactylate
Citric Acid
BHA
Artificial flavour

I would imagine real potatos would work better than the flakes, but flakes are easier, and i get lazy sometimes. I don't really notice a difference.

my recipe is

1 bottle bottled water (500 ml)
9g agar agar
1g fleischmans active yeast
5g potato flakes
10cc's karo syrup

makes enough for ~20 dishes.

I totally agree.
I have not noticed much of a difference from using Potato Buds and real Potato's.

I use a slight different recipie.

5 grams instant potato's "Betty Crocker Potato Buds"
9 grams agar
7 grams of pure honey
1 gram of nutritional yeast mini flake from a Health food store.
500 ml of purified water

Works great!
