my horse poo method, up for review
    #1149821 - 12/17/02 06:48 PM (15 years, 5 months ago)

Here's a rundown of how I got to where I am:
Grated 1/2 pint BRF into horse poo, which took up a 6inch x 3in x 2in deep container. Incubated for 4 days, cased with 50/50+, let colonize 3 more days, patched, covered and put in the fridge for 10 days, because I had to go across the country for thanksgiving. When I returned, I let it sit for a few days at 74 degrees with a saran wrap cover with holes in it, then birthed to my terrarium with cakes in it. I try to keep the humidity in the mid-to-high 80's to compromise both cakes and casing.
Now, the first flush was pretty hefty, 20 large b+ shrooms, 1/2 oz dry or thereabouts. I patched and misted, and the 2nd flush was half of that. I am not getting very dense flushes, 4 or 5 shrooms grow, and then die out cause the ones next to it are getting larger. After the 2nd flush, I patched again, but lighter, and misted the hell out of it. 12 hours later, I see a bunch of pins, but not sure what is going to end up growing. Does this sound right to anyone? This was my first casing, so maybe that is why I got low yields. any suggestions would be cool

If I was to give anyone just 1 piece of information about mushroom growing, it would have to be:

"Dont expect anything, Dont rely on anything, dont take anything for granted'
************

keep conditions right and there is nothing more you can do...its down to the little guys.
