you can, but it's hard to. when the substrate's fully colonized, it wants that fresh air - you don't need to worry about gas exchange anymore - now you're going for AIR exchange.
move the plastic up and down to fan. yes. obviously.
misting is always optional - but it's probably a good idea to mist with pretty cold water to trigger fruiting. get some distilled water, put it in the fridge, let it cool, pour it in a mister, and go to town on the bitches.

My substrate looks like yours. Did you drain your bulk sub before spawning? Or did you do what I did and just threw it all together
the myc looks wet as fruk

No worries man. Come back a few days from now and you'll have some nice looking pins, I'm sure of it.

You don't want it to dry. You always want the substrate to get all the water it needs without there being excess. Small droplet of condensation on the substrate is a good thing. Condensation inside the tubs just means the air is warmer than the air outside, which means the mycelium is producing heat which is good. With my tubs I just put then in the corner and don't open them up unless I have a reason to. With the lid on, and with enough holes for FAE, you should pretty much achieve the growing conditions you are looking for. I fee you are almost setting yourself up for failure if not now, then in the future you will for sure. Many people have given you good advice but really the only thing you need to do it just leave that tub in the room and forget it's there. I've had mushrooms grow from contamed substrate I threw in the trash. These things are easy to grow if you just let them do their thing.

I wouldn't fan/mist a monotub. They hold their own very well without any intervention of that sort. Just put the lid on, set a fan oscillating in the room, and leave that thing to its business.

You'll get a better pinset if you fan/mist initially, then once pins begin to form you can set it and leave it.

if you're going to crack it open and do that you might as well case it if pin-set is something you're aiming for right ? fanning and misting tubs before first harvests is overkill to me being as it has still retained plenty of moisture for fruitbodies ...
taping tyvek over the holes and stuffing your poly-fil in when you shift to fruiting creates a dramatic enough shift in GE/FAE to trigger pinning ... fanning disrupts your Rh ... best saved for fc's IMO

its trying to fight off something my guess would be bacteria from your sub being too wet
if it was trich your whole tub would have been green by now

Nice even pinsets lead to more fruits, more weight. If thats something you're not going for then let your tubs sit and grow knarled shrooms growing every which way that inhibit the growth of others.
Lower humidity 80-85% also causes more evaporation of moisture and more pins.

Yeah, there is something nasty in there. Should still get a good flush though.

its doing what i said it was going to do ... get eaten up from the center/bottom of the substrate by bacteria ...
you didnt spawn high enough and you saw surface colonization ... i can say with very good certainty thats it for the tubs ...
you can see it coming up and now moving in on the surface colonization ... if you saw shrinkage it was likely along the edges only but no more than an inch or 2 into the sub ... sorry man ... im sure theres going to be plenty more ppl to disagree with me and boost your hopes but ....

huh ? no shit dude ... all im saying is that if pinsets a priority as it should be then fucking case that shit and not mist and fan and fuck around with it like a fetish item ...

anything more than a few fruits if you are lucky is highly doubtful
