Tubs look fine and they haven't really taken that long.

i want to give it a week to consolidate but i dont see that happening without it getting contaminated. im already on day 11.
Why would it get contaminated? a fully colonized substrate is very contam resistant. If anything, you'd be making it more prone to contamination by not giving it a consolidation period.

what about the fact that its REALLY wet in there? or is that normal? i feel like thats going to lead to contams.

lol i dont know, i think big. i got the biggest sterlites i could find. it took a ton of time to pasteurize all that sub to get 4 inches worth.
but imagine if this project, which is my first, is a success. the flush will be crazy.

If your sub was at field capacity when you spawned, you're fine. What are you worried about, the condensation? plenty of that is to be expected.

1.5 quarts for a box that size is ridiculously low , even by my low spawning standards lol ... i do hope that youre not seeing a mirage there with only the top colonizing while the rest below slowly contaminates ...
a good way to tell this is by looking at the shrink ratio on the sides of the sub ... after 11 days you should see considerable shrinkage ... an inch or more in all directions pulling away from the tub ..

You could switch a hypochondriac's chart with an AID's patient and feel good about it couldn't you?
These tubs look fine to me. Great job, don't worry be happy. You've done a great job thus far.

along the sides of the tub where it meets the sub ... if your using black plastic under the sub ( a practice i abhor ) the plastic will stick to the sub and pull away from the tub with it ...

Why are you against this practice i find it to be very helpful in reducing side pins; which abort, rot, and take away from the full fruit bodies on top of the substrate.

i dont like the way condensation pools up under the plastic ... stagnant water breeds bacteria ... i see no big reason to run from the side pinners ... they pop out eventually or abort like any other ... seems like overkill to me for a problem that never really was ...

id say 3 to 4 days from where it is now providing it is indeed full colonization .. ( dont let me scare you with that because you got a better vantage than me .. i just know that when spawning so low it can happen that the top only colonizes )

i added a SMALL frosting layer on top of the sub too which can make it more deceiving. but why would the top colonize and the bottom wouldn't, i would think the bottom would be the first to start colonizing, where its constantly in the dark.

it should have ALL been in the dark lmao ... but to answer your question yes a frosting layer will do that especially ... you should always cover your spawn with pasteurized sub to protect it ... once you break it up it becomes very vulnerable and susceptible to contamination ... i consider frosting bad or outdated information ...
and even if you hadn't frosted the reason this could happen with such a low spawn ratio is most of your bacterias are going to incubate thrive where it is warmer and wetter ... this is more or less anywhere under the surface ...
