Dishwasher for Pressure Cooker Substitute?
    #1149101 - 12/17/02 02:34 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

Hey I already have a PC, but I was wondering for those that don't, do you guys think the dish washer gets hot enough to sterilize grains? Because I think that would be a sweet and easy way to do it if you have access to a dish washing machine. You'd just need to make sure the jars were covered well and didn't let any water in.

The temp in the dishwasher not high enough.
PC is used because under pressure water boils at higher temp, so you can heat it to over 100 C.

Pasteurization can be done successfully in the dishwasher. I doubt the shower would work though.
