WOW!! Thousands.... need an ID!!
    #1149027 - 12/17/02 02:10 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

I found literally thousands upon thousands of these growing on the edge of a soccer field, in woodchips and pine mulch. The older ones have lightening in the caps, they turn grey or white-ish upon aging:

Found these about one hour South of San Francisco.
no immediate staining reaction, sporeprint was black/dark. (not brown)
The pictures should speak for themselves, but if anyone has any questions to help them ID... please please please ask.

any help appriciated...
sorry for the quality loss in the photos... need to update browser.

No pix showing man.. I speak from experience.. I screwed up a few posts somehow too. Repost them using the url/code from your pix gallery.

Those are Psathyrellas, probably Psathyrella gracilis or one of the closely related species, I think I see a Galerina in there too.

Again Dethhed is correct. Psathyrella.

I saw quite a few today myself here in Seattle.

Keep looking. Right now two different people have reported P. cyanofibrilosa from the SF area. SSo the P. cyanescens are also there and apparently up. Kee[p scouting and good forturne will come your way sooner or later.
