This has already happened. . .
    #1148110 - 12/17/02 08:31 AM (14 years, 2 months ago)

Ok, I just want to get some general feed back to see if this has ever happend to any other fellow trippers. Craziest thing happened to me on my last trip. Was fairly high, maybe a leve 3 almost a 4. I was stuck in a constant loop of thought that everything that I was experiencing had already happend. It was like I knew what was going to happen next, but at the same time I didn't, but when something did happen I just knew it had already happened to me. My friend kept reassuring me that what ever was happening it was the first time round. . . he was getting a real kick out of it. Kind of hard to explain but it the best I can do. I was thinking that maybe once you do shrooms so many times all your previous experinces seem to blend into one and it becomes a collective trip of what has already happend. Or maybe I was just whacked out... I guess I'll see on my next trip.

hahaaa yeah you got caught in a loop.

thats very interesting during a trip, but very unproductive as well - you will learn to stop that from happening

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

What you said djd . . . that's why I haven't shroomed in 9+ months. That'll change in a month or so though, when I harvest my first flush. Strumpling you can stop that from happening? Is there anything specific that you do, or is it pretty much unique to the person? I'm guessing that it's unique, and that you just need to gain enough experience to be able to break yourself out of the cycle. I'd love it if there was a quick and easy fix though.

-edit- Just re-read the original post, want to add that I was in a loop, but not exactly like djd's loop. It was just a loop of the same thoughts over and over and over and over . . . you get the idea. It wasn't that bad at first, but it got annoying at the end of the trip, then it kept recurring on successive trips. I got so fed up with it that I stopped. I think that it's a product of tripping too often. I also think that I came to expect it, and I couldn't stop myself from thinking about it, or at least having it cross my mind, and once it did, it was soooo hard to break out of that cycle.

With altered perceptions and cognitive functioning, many people will get the feeling of d?j?-vu, although what they feel has already happened actually hasn't. They may even get the feeling that they will know what is about to happen and after it does, they will feel that they could have known it. This is the hindsight bias. Mixed together, these two can cause the effect of circles in a trip. Just go with the flow and relax, and this shouldn't happen again.

The first time I tripped, me and my friend (it was his first time too) were trippin down at the beach. I remember sitting on a bench looking out at the water, surrounded on 3 sides by bushes. My friend and I were both caught in a loop. It was like our thoughts kept flowing, and we couldn't move back or forth, we were just caught in a river of thought. Anything we said could easily be the opposite, we essentially had a running joke ...."but not really"....because we could say anything, and then say just the opposite and it too would be correct.

Fun stuff.

if you have good control over your brain then it is possible to stop the loop thinking, it is often dangerous as fighting the trip can induce a bad trip, i have found that eaach person needs a differnet technique to getting out of loop thinking, all you can do is practice
